The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), established under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (Chapter 15) and the Act respecting health services and social services, covers the entire territory north of the 55th parallel. 

Its mission is to adapt health and social services programs to the needs of the population and the realities of the region, and to ensure the efficient organization of resources available to the Nunavik region. 

The Regional Board wishes to fill two (2) full-time temporary assignments for a period of twelve (12) months:

DIRECTORATE AND SERVICE: PUBLIC HEALTH DIRECTORATE, #40008, INFECTIOUS DISEASE PREVENTION AND CONTROL 

DESCRIPTION 

Within the Public Health Directorate, the Nursing Advisor reports to the Infectious Diseases Coordinator and is part of the regional tuberculosis elimination team in Nunavik, supported by an Assistant Head Nurse (AHN). You will primarily contribute to regional tuberculosis prevention and population protection activities.

 More specifically, you will be responsible for conducting epidemiological investigations related to tuberculosis. 

To do so, you will work closely with staff from the region’s two health centres, namely the Centre de santé Tulattavik de l’Ungava and the Centre de santé Inuulitsivik, which provide services directly to the population of Nunavik’s fourteen communities. 

Working mainly remotely, you will analyze data collected by public health nurses from the health centres, ensure proper follow-up of investigations, and formulate appropriate recommendations. 

You will primarily use the Nunavik Tuberculosis Outbreak Management Tool (OGETN) to ensure rigorous follow-up of individuals diagnosed with tuberculosis and their contacts, and you will serve as a regional consultant and resource person for the NRBHSS and its partners throughout Nunavik. 

The primary mandate of this assignment focuses on epidemiological investigations. 

However, depending on evolving needs and circumstances, you may also be called upon to participate in other activities aimed at 

eliminating tuberculosis in Nunavik. You will have the opportunity to apply your expertise in tuberculosis and public health to the development of regional projects and tools, as well as to the improvement of practices. 

You may also support local and regional prevention and protection initiatives related to tuberculosis. 

Occasional travel to Nunavik communities will be required to support health centre staff and contribute to regional prevention and population protection activities. 

Finally, depending on the epidemiological situation and the needs of the Infectious Diseases team, you may be asked to contribute to other files, including sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBIs), overdose prevention and response activities, or any other priority infectious disease file (e.g., vaccine-preventable diseases, notifiable diseases, infection prevention and control). 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Conduct epidemiological investigations related to tuberculosis cases; 

• Act as a resource person and tuberculosis specialist for the NRBHSS, health centre staff, and regional partners; 

• Analyze collected data and formulate public health recommendations adapted to specific situations; 

• Ensure follow-up of tuberculosis cases using the OGETN; 

• Contribute to the development, updating, implementation, and dissemination of regional tuberculosis guides, tools, procedures, and protocols; 

• Develop and deliver prevention, awareness, training, and knowledge-transfer activities; 

• Support local stakeholders and initiatives related to tuberculosis prevention and control; 

• Participate, as needed, in various projects and activities aimed at eliminating tuberculosis in Nunavik. 

REQUIREMENTS 

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing;  

• Member in good standing of the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ);  

• Knowledge of the realities and issues specific to Nunavik;  

• Demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire in-depth knowledge in tuberculosis and public health and apply it effectively in practice;  

• Strong analytical, synthesis, and writing skills;  

• Sound professional judgment and the ability to formulate recommendations adapted to public health situations;  

• Ability to work independently and remotely while maintaining close collaboration with various partners;  

• Strong communication, facilitation, and knowledge-transfer skills;  

• Project management skills;  

• Flexibility and adaptability to respond quickly to team and partner priorities;  

• Proficiency in both French and English, spoken and written. Knowledge of Inuktitut is considered an asset. 

For candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, a combination of relevant experience and training may be considered. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

• Interviews are expected to take place during the weeks of October 5 and October 12, 2026;  

• Work location: Remote work;  

• Occasional travel to Nunavik will be required, approximately 3 to 5 short stays of one to two weeks per year;  

• Start date as early as October 2026, on a full-time basis. 

Depending on circumstances, some flexibility regarding the start date may be considered, although such flexibility is limited. 

Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement will have priority. 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

• Two (2) full-time temporary assignments (37.5 hours per week) for a period of twelve (12) months;  

• Day shift;  

• Salary according to MSSS working conditions and the successful candidate’s qualifications 

($31.48/hour to $57.75/hour).
