Responsibilities

Reporting to the Supervisor and Team Lead, the Apprentice Fire Prevention / Security Technician is primarily responsible for:

  • Conducting required inspections of fire safety equipment and systems at the Expo site, as well as vehicles used by the Security and Emergency Measures Services and the Fire Brigade;
  • Providing support to Security and Emergency Measures dispatchers and supervisors in carrying out their daily duties;
  • Ensuring the maintenance and proper operation of fire extinguishers;
  • Providing training to employees;
  • Conducting road patrols;
  • Ensuring compliance with camp rules and regulations;
  • Representing the employer within the scope of their responsibilities;
  • Performing any other related duties assigned by the Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma (DES) (an asset);
  • Firefighter 1 certification or Fire Alarm Technician certification (ACAI/CFAA), or any other relevant experience related to the position may be considered (an asset);
  • Valid general explosives permit (an asset);
  • Relevant work experience related to the position (an asset);
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 or territorial driver’s license (mandatory);
  • Possession of a valid Class 4A driver’s license (an asset);
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in at least two of the following languages: Inuktitut, English, or French (trilingualism considered an asset).
