The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) isa “supra-municipal” organization with jurisdiction over 

the territory of Québec located north of the 55th parallel. The KRG is currently seeking to recruit a 

professional and motivated candidate to work in Nunavik, in the capacity of; 

Assistant Director, Maintenance

TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT

(Permanent – Full-time)

Reporting to the Director Transportation Department, the Assistant Director Maintenance will be 

responsible for the maintenance of Infrastructures of Airports, Marine Ports, Mobile Equipment and 

is responsible for technical expertise associated with Capital and Improvement Projects.

The Assistant Director Maintenance will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

• Responsible for the development and implementation of the maintenance programs for all 

14 airports, airside/landside, facilities and equipment;

• Responsible for the management of facilities and for maintaining the safety of all airside 

infrastructure;

• Responsible for the ports/marinas’ infrastructures, maintenance and access for all 14 

Northern Villages;

• Actively contribute technical and engineering input to the preparation of plans and 

specifications for projects submitted to the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité 

durable (MTMD), and provide technical comments on projects at all stages of the process;

• Contribute to short- and long-term planning of maintenance activities, budgets, and reports;

• Participate in the development and the implementation of departmental objectives;

• Contribute to the feasibility analyses and studies on airport improvement projects according 

to Transport Canada regulations;

• Responsible for conducting operational acceptance inspections of completed airport 

infrastructure projects to identify deficiencies and confirm that facilities are safe, functional, 

and suitable for commissioning and ongoing operation and maintenance;

• Participate, as required, in technical committee meetings held with MTMD;

• Work and coordinate with KRG Municipal Public Works Department to ensure facilities’ 

maintenance and repair;

• Responsible for the electrical and vehicle maintenance and vehicle/equipment capital 

replacement at the 13 MTMD airports;

• Remain attentive to, and maintain effective relationships with, all stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction 

Management, or a related technical field; significant relevant work experience on major 

infrastructure projects may be considered in lieu of a degree. 

• Professional engineering designation (P.Eng. / OIQ) considered a strong asset (civil or 

structural engineering)

• Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience in infrastructure, facilities, or 

maintenance management, including at least three (3) years in a supervisory or leadership 

capacity managing a multi-disciplinary team;

• Experience with marine infrastructure (ports, marinas, wharfs) considered an asset; 

• Experience in capital project planning and budget management, including multi-year 

infrastructure investment planning, considered an asset; 

• Experience working in remote, fly-in, or Indigenous community contexts considered an 

asset; 

• Valid driver's license required;

• Experience with airport gravel runway maintenance considered an asset; 

• Written and oral working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut, 

English, and French; 

• Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite; 

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills; 

• Good knowledge of Transport Canada regulations (TP312, CARs, CTA) considered an 

asset; 

• Availability to travel throughout the Nunavik territory

Place of work: Kuujjuaq or other Nunavik community

Salary: Minimum of $ 120,648 and maximum of $ 165,878

Benefits: Cost-of-living differential: minimum $8 500 annually.

Food allowance: minimum $3 707 annually.

Annual leave trips: minimum 3.

Vacation: 30 days annually.

Statutory holidays: 20 days including 10 during the Christmas period.
