Assistant Director Operations, Transportation Department - KRG
JOB OPPORTUNITY
The Kativik Regional Government (KRG) isa “supra-municipal” organization with jurisdiction over
the territory of Québec located north of the 55th parallel. The KRG is currently seeking to recruit a
professional and motivated candidate to work in Nunavik, in the capacity of;
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OPERATIONS, TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT
(PERMANENT FULL TIME POSITION)
Reporting to the Director of the Transportation Department, the Assistant Director Operations has
responsibility for the safe and efficient operations at all 14 locations.
More precisely, the Assistant Director Operations will be:
• Responsible for ensuring the daily operations, management, and compliance of all 14
airports managed by the KRG, and the application of the Usijiit para-transit services,
marinas and public transit services;
• Responsible for overseeing the observation and communication functions at all applicable
airports;
• Responsible for the airside safety, passenger safety, security, terminal cleanliness and
relationships with all local airport stakeholders;
• "Responsible for the day-to-day operational implementation of each airport's regulated
documentation — including aerodrome manuals, SOPs, the Airport Operation Manual, and
the Winter Maintenance Plan — ensuring these are followed and kept current in practice;
• Collaborate with all departments responsible for providing services and duties, contributing
to the safe and efficient management of the airports, such as the Assistant-Director
Maintenance and Assistant-Director, Compliance, Environment, and Administration;
• Responsible for all airport Managers, Observers and Communicators and the Senior
Manager, Airport Operations and Airside Safety;
• Contribute to short and long-term planning, budgets and reports;
• Participate in the development and the implementation of departmental objectives;
• Develop and implement Procedures and Work Instructions as needed
• Ensure frequent management presence and personally visit each community, as deemed
necessary, to provide mentoring and support to KRG operational staff;
• Monitor performance and present Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across areas of
responsibility;
• Responsible for the operational implementation of the Plan of Operations during
Construction (PCO) at the airport level, working closely with MTMD throughout construction
projects to ensure coordination and safety of airport operations;
• Remain attentive and maintain relationships with all stakeholders;
• Perform any other related tasks
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, Public
Administration, or a related field; significant relevant work experience in airport operations
management may be considered in lieu of a degree;
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in airport operations management,
including at least three (3) years in a supervisory or leadership role overseeing a
multidisciplinary team;
• Experience managing a multi-site or network airport operation considered a strong asset;
• Accredited Airport Executive (AAE) or Certified Member (CM) designation from IAAE
Canada considered a strong asset;
• Good knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) and Transport Canada
aerodrome standards (TP312) considered an asset;
• Experience with public or para-transit operations considered an asset;
• Experience working in remote, fly-in, or Indigenous community contexts considered an
asset;
• Excellent planning, problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills;
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision;
• Valid driver's license required;
• Written and oral working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut,
English, and French;
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, as well as other relevant software;
• Ability to travel frequently in Nunavik as well as outside the region;
Place of work: Kuujjuaq or other Nunavik community
Salary: Minimum of $ 116,523 and maximum of $ 160,207
Benefits: Cost-of-living differential: minimum $8 500 annually.
Food allowance: minimum $3 707 annually.
Annual leave trips: minimum 3.

Vacation: 30 days annually.
Statutory holidays: 20 days including 10 during the Christmas period.
