 1 (ONE) BARGE DECKHANDS

TEMPORARY FULL-TIME POSITION

Location: Inukjuak, QC

Pituvik Landholding Corporation of Inukjuak is seeking two motivated and energetic individuals for temporary full-time positions as Barge Deckhands. Candidates should be career-minded and prepared to undertake a variety of responsibilities to ensure the effective and safe operation of the barge. Duties include assisting the captain and co-captain, loading and unloading the barge, and maintaining consistent operational readiness throughout the contract period.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

- Assist captain and co-captain with their needs;

- Maintaining the boat and equipment;

- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks for the boat and equipment.

- Loading and unloading cargo;

- Keeping watch during voyages;

- Ensuring the vessel operates smoothly and safely;

- Manage loading and unloading of cargo, including heavy lifting and cargo handling.

- Maintaining clear communication and timely reporting to the captain and co-captain;

- Responding to emergencies and unexpected situations;

- Assisting with refueling gasoline, diesel, and oil as required;

- Supporting navigation and safety procedures;

- Navigating the barge safely through various waterways;

- Maintaining compliance with all maritime laws and regulations;

- Ensuring the safety and security of the vessel and passengers;

- Assist in conducting regular inspections and maintenance of the barge.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Able bodied and able to follow directions from captain;

- Willing to attend Marine Emergency Duties (MED) Training;

- Relevant experience in marine navigation and operations;

- Strong understanding of maritime laws and regulations;

WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Temporary full-time position, 6 months out of the year, 8 hours a day. June to November 2026;

- $46.00/hour, with cargo benefits $1,000.00 and northern living benefits $3,000.00;
