By-Law Officer

Location: lnukjuak, Quebec

Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Monday to Friday, but must be willing to work outside hours as required from time to time.

Position: By-Law Officer

Under the direct supervision of the municipal services, the by-law officer has the following

duties:

- Implementing the Municipal By-law on peace, order and good governance

programs that has been adopted by the Northern Village;

- In close collaboration with local Kativik Regional Police Force and Kativik

Regional Government's Legal Department;

- In close collaboration with the Mayor and with the Municipal Manager, and to

attend Northern Village council meetings, as required;

- Working with the Secretary-Treasurer and the Finance Department.

- Enforce public awareness on by-laws using the local FM Station and by other

means and meeting with local organizations;

- Receive fine payments from individuals on tickets issued by the Kativik Regional

Police Force;

- Meeting with parents of juveniles who have been issued with tickets from Kativik

Regional Police Force, if needed;

- Attend court hearings on issues of the community by-laws;

- Tasks asked by your supervisor;

Qualifications

- Must be influential and dynamic.

- Good communication skills with the public.

- Must be willing to work with organizations and with the public.

- Organizational, planning skills.

- With some computer skills and willing to learn.

- Travel when requested.

- Writing reports on a monthly basis

- Must be free of criminal records from the past 5 (five) years

- Must have a valid drivers license

Languages: Inuktitut and second language(s) verbal & written

Probation period of six months

Salary: Salary based on Experience and Salary Scale

Candidates chosen as full time employees are eligible to a Northern

Allowance of $5,000 or $3,000, participate in an employee pension plan and

Group Insurance plan, participate in a travel benefit plan after 12 months of

service.
