Tasiurvik Child Care Center is looking for a reliable and dynamic person to work in capacity of:
Centre Director
Temporary Full-Time Position

Under the authority of the Board of Directors of the Tasiurvik Child Care Center, the Director General of the childcare center exercises all duties related to the planning, organizing, supervising and control of the center's programs and resources. She/he ensures that the child care center operates efficiently, in accordance with the policies and objectives established by the Board of Directors and within the specification of the Act respecting childcare centers and childcare services (R.S. Q., chapter S-4.1) and its regulations.
Tasks
• Collaborates with the Board of Directors of the child care center.
• Implements the Board of Directors' decisions and applies them in the spirit in which they were intended.
Relationship with parent users
• Welcomes parents and provides requested information.
• Encourages and coordinates participation of parents in the child care center activities.
Supervision of human resources
• Coordinates activities related to recruiting, selecting and hiring personnel.
• Applies the human resource policy adopted by the Board of Directors.
• Provides the personnel with professional and technical support.
• Evaluates staff performance.
Pedagogical supervision
• Oversees the development of the children in care.
• Supervises the activities of the child care center in order to create an environment which will ensure the children's well-being.
• Coordinates the implementation of the activity program.
• Integrates new children and ensures that each child receives the attention necessary for normal development.
Supervision of material resources
• Supervises internal operations;
• Abilities to perform certain accounting tasks;
• Aids in the administration of the child care center budget and keeps the Board of Directors informed;
• Collaborates with the Board of Directors in the preparation of the budget;
• Supports and collaborates with the Board of Directors, in the preparation of the yearly financial reports;
• Ensures that the Center's equipment is in good condition and makes necessary purchases.
The selected candidate must:
• Be 18 years of age or older;
• Be in good physical and mental health;
• Be available to be present during all opening hours, to provide care to the children received;
• Have a Sec V diploma although exceptional and relevant work experience will be considered;
• Hold a diploma or certificate in early childhood education and/or attend courses in early childhood education;
• Have previous experience in working with children as a parent, as a baby-sitter or in a day care centre;
• Have a diploma in First Aid Training is a definite asset;
• Must be willing to take part in training sessions and attend personnel meetings;
• Be Bilingual, Inuktitut/English, Inuktitut/French (Knowledge of Inuktitut is a must to be able to work with Native children/families).
Qualifications and requirements
• Experience in administration and bookkeeping, managing human resources and education;
• Experience in planning and organizing;
• Experience in early childhood education; though understanding of child growth and development and of age-appropriate activity programming;
• Ability to build strong positive relationships with parents, children and employees;
• Commitment, flexibility and good problem-solving skills;
• Computer knowledge is an asset.
Salary
• Commensurate on experience and training.
