The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), established under the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (Chapter 15) and the Act Respecting Health Services and Social Services, is responsible for the entire territory located north of the 55th parallel. Its mission is to adapt health and social services programs to the needs of the population and the realities of the region, and to ensure the efficient organization of resources made available to the Nunavik region.

The Regional Board is seeking to fill the following full-time temporary assignment:

DESCRIPTION

Under the authority of the Regional Infectious Diseases Coordinator, the Assistant Head Nurse Clinician (AHNC) for the Sexually Transmitted and Blood-Borne Infections (STBBI) and Overdoses teams plays a central role within the Infectious Diseases (ID) team of the Nunavik Department of Public Health. The incumbent supports the organization of the STBBI-Overdoses team’s work and contributes to the planning, deployment, and evaluation of regional STBBI and overdoses prevention and control programs. The position also supports the program’s administrative processes, including budget monitoring, accountability, and report production.

The responsibilities of the position include:

• In close collaboration with the medical lead of the STBBI-Overdoses team, contributes to defining regional public health directions related to STBBIs and overdoses;

• Supports and mentors team members in the implementation of these orientations and in the organization of their work;

• Facilitates internal and external meetings with partners;

• Prepares reports and presentations for the management team and external partners;

• Attends various meetings to represent the STBBI and overdoses prevention and control program in Nunavik;

• Contributes to the establishment of a healthy work environment and promotes the well-being of all team members;

• Contributes to the development, revision, and evaluation of STBBI and overdoses programs in the region, ensuring high-quality services and ongoing respect for Inuit culture and regional realities;

• Contributes to the development of more strategic STBBI and overdoses-related projects;

• Contributes to the planning and continuous improvement of the STBBI-Overdoses team’s work processes;

• Ensures the smooth circulation of information between the Infectious Diseases Coordination Team and the STBBI-Overdoses team;

• Maintains close collaborative relationships with health centres, community partners, and regional, provincial, and national organizations;

• Supervises the onboarding of new staff and ensures the delivery of an ongoing in-service training program for all team members;

• Monitors provincial and Canadian directives and guidelines and proposes appropriate changes to the STBBI and overdoses prevention and control program;

• Ensures budget monitoring related to the STBBI and overdoses prevention and control program and participates in the preparation of reports, accountability reporting documents, strategic documents, funding applications, and professional communications;

• Promotes and supports culturally safe organizational practices and public health interventions adapted to the Inuit context;

• Contributes to the development of the communication plan and ensures the quality of its content;

• Coordinates the implementation, organization, and deployment of intervention strategies and STBBI and overdoses prevention and control measures;

• Works closely with other AHNCs, assistant head nurses, and ID team leads to ensure effective communication between teams and continuous improvement of Infectious Diseases team processes;

• May, when required, assume certain responsibilities of the Regional Infectious Diseases Coordinator or other team members and, as needed, contribute to other infectious diseases-related files.

REQUIREMENTS

• For candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement, a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered;

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a bachelor’s degree composed of three (3) eligible certificates, at least two (2) of which are recognized in nursing;

• Must be a member in good standing of the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ);

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in team coordination;

• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in public health;

• Experience in STBBIs and/or overdoses prevention;

• Experience in remote regions, particularly Nunavik, is an asset;

• Bilingualism (spoken and written French and English);

• Knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset;

• Collaborative leadership and strategic communication skills in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments;

• Diplomacy, political acumen, and conflict management skills, with the ability to exert constructive influence;

• Clinical expertise and an expert advisory role in STBBIs and overdoses prevention with internal and external partners;

• Professional autonomy, rigor, and strong clinical judgment;

• Strong analytical and synthesis skills, adaptability, and initiative in complex environments;

• Planning, organization, and coordination of regional projects, including facilitation of meetings and working groups.

• Please note that interviews may take place during the week of May 4, 2026;

• Work location: Telework, with occasional travel to Nunavik.

Beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement will be given priority.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Status: Full-time temporary assignment;

• Day shift;

• Salary according to MSSS working conditions and the candidate’s qualifications ($32.46/hour to

$60.60/hour).
