(Chapter 15) and the Act Respecting Health Services and Social Services, covers the entire territory north of the 55th parallel. Its mission is 

to adapt health and social service programs to the needs of the population and the realities of the region, while ensuring the effective 

organization of resources made available to the Nunavik region. 

The Regional Board is seeking to fill the following full-time assignment:

DEPARTMENT AND SERVICE: PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT, #40008 – INFECTIOUS DISEASE PREVENTION AND 

CONTROL 

DESCRIPTION 

Reporting to the Regional Coordinator for Infectious Diseases, the Assistant Head Nurse Clinician (AHNC) for the 

Sexually Transmitted and Blood-Borne Infections (STBBI) and Overdose teams plays a central role within the 

Infectious Diseases (ID) team of the Nunavik Public Health Department. The incumbent supports the organization 

of the STBBI-Overdose team’s work and contributes to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of regional 

prevention and control programs related to STBBIs and Overdoses. The position also supports the program’s 

administrative processes, including budget monitoring, accountability reporting, and report preparation. 

Responsibilities include: 

• In close collaboration with the Medical Lead of the STBBI-Overdose team, contributes to defining regional 

public health priorities in the areas of STBBIs and Overdoses; 

• Supports and guides team members in implementing these priorities and organizing their work; 

• Facilitates internal and external meetings with partners; 

• Prepares reports and presentations for the management team and external partners; 

• Attends various meetings to represent the STBBI and Overdose prevention and control program in Nunavik; 

• Contributes to maintaining a healthy work environment and promotes the well-being of all team members; 

• Participates in the development, revision, and evaluation of regional STBBI and Overdose programs, ensuring 

high-quality services and ongoing respect for Inuit culture and regional realities; 

• Contributes to the development of more strategic projects related to STBBIs and Overdoses; 

• Participates in the planning and continuous improvement of STBBI-Overdose team work processes; 

• Ensures effective communication between the Infectious Diseases Coordination Team and the STBBI

Overdose team; 

• Maintains strong collaborative relationships with health centres, community partners, and regional, 

provincial, and national organizations; 

• Oversees the orientation of new staff and ensures ongoing in-service training for all team members; 

• Monitors provincial and Canadian directives and recommendations and proposes appropriate adjustments to 

the STBBI and Overdose prevention and control program; 

• Monitors the program budget and contributes to the preparation of reports, accountability documents, 

strategic documents, funding requests, and professional communications; 

• Promotes and supports culturally safe organizational practices and public health interventions adapted to the 

Inuit context; 

• Contributes to the development of the communications plan and ensures the quality of its content; 

• Coordinates the implementation, organization, and deployment of intervention strategies and prevention and 

control measures related to STBBIs and Overdoses; 

• Works closely with other Assistant Head Nurse Clinicians, Assistant Managers, and ID Team Leaders to 

promote effective communication among teams and improve Infectious Diseases team processes; 

• May, when required, perform certain duties of the Infectious Diseases Coordinator or other team members 

and contribute, as needed, to other Infectious Disease-related initiatives. 

REQUIREMENTS 

• For candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, an equivalent 

combination of relevant education and experience may be considered; 

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a bachelor's degree including three (3) eligible certificates, of which at least 

two (2) are recognized nursing certificates; 

• Active membership in good standing with the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ); 

• Minimum of two (2) years of team coordination experience; 

• Minimum of three (3) years of public health experience; 

• Experience in STBBIs and/or Overdose prevention and response; 

• Experience in a remote region, particularly in Nunavik, is considered an asset; 

• Bilingualism (spoken and written French and English); 

• Knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset; 

• Commitment to culturally safe practice; 

• Collaborative leadership and strategic communication skills in multidisciplinary and multicultural 

environments; 

• Strong interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills; 

• Ability to manage tensions and demonstrate self-reflection; 

• Professional autonomy, attention to detail, and sound clinical judgment; 

• Change management, adaptability, and problem-solving skills; 

• Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate regional projects, including facilitating meetings and working groups. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

• Please note that interviews may take place during the week of September 7, 2026 or September 14, 2026; 

• Work location: Remote, with occasional travel to Nunavik. 

Priority will be given to candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

• Status: Temporary full-time assignment; 

• Day shift;  

• Salary according to MSSS conditions and the candidate’s qualifications ($32.46/hour to $60.60/hour).
