POSITION

Job Title : Communications Coordinator

Reports to: The Communications Director in the Corporate Secretary Department

Location: Kuujjuaq or Nunavik

Status of Employment: Permanent, Full-Time

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary: Between $85,000 and $110,000 annually

Benefits: All marginal benefits available to Makivvik employees annually as outlined in the Makivvik Human Resources Policy Manual such as:

RESPONSIBILITIES

▪ Assist in developing, implementing and measuring external and internal communication plans; assist in managing and monitoring Makivvik’s social media accounts and liaise with internal parties (Makivvik departments) and external groups

(regional organizations, partners across Inuit Nunangat) to facilitate the promotion of Makivvik’s social media

▪ Lead initiative to develop internal communications resource to all departments

▪ Develop written materials including social media posts, Q&A, media statements as required

▪ Demonstrate leadership within the Communications team and collaborate internally to ensure tasks are executed on time and according to corporate standards

▪ Develop and publish surveys internally and externally as needed

▪ Support Director on key files: Elections, BOD and AGM Comms, event planning and coordination

▪ Provide support to ensure coordination and communication of messages/news to both internal and external audiences;

▪ Develop and implement online communications strategy ensuring alignment with internal communications strategy and that it includes day-to-day content development strategy and functional enhancements;

▪ Serve as editor and provide communications content for internal communications efforts;

▪ Collaborate with employee groups and cross-functional teams as needed and help provide creative solutions to communication problems;

▪ Serve as back-up to the Communications Director with crisis/issues management;

▪ Travel to Nunavik Communities to provide communications assistance (photography, content creation) during Makivik activities.

▪ Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

▪ Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English or equivalent experience

▪ Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Communications with a focus on social media management and content creation required;

▪ Experience managing social media, creating social media content (Facebook, Instagram), and developing social media policies

▪ Strong working knowledge of communication principles and practices;

▪ Must possess excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication with strong writing and editorial abilities;

▪ Bilingual in English and Inuktitut, French an asset;

▪ Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent graphic design tools;

▪ Experience with event photography preferred

▪ Must be able to meet tight deadlines and execute flawlessly on projects in a fast-paced environment and see a project through to completion

▪ Security clearance is required.
