POSITION: COMMUNCATION OFFICER
Avataq Cultural Institute is a non-profit, Inuit organization in Nunavik. The head office is in Inukjuak (Nunavik)
and administrative office in Montreal.
Under the supervision of the General Manager, the Communication Officer participates in the development
and implementation of Avataq's communications strategy. He/she is responsible for the organization's external
and internal communications, maintains and moderates social media, and welcomes visitors to the Institute.
We are seeking a dynamic person for the following tasks:
- Suggest and implement communication plans.
- Produce a variety of communication materials and oversee the revision and translation of documents in
the three languages: Inuktitut, French and English.
- Cultivate relationships with media, to enhance the organization's visibility.
- Oversee the organization’s social media presence and participate in the development of the Avataq
website.
- Coordinate and support internal communication initiatives.
- Preparation of internal documents.
- Provide logistic support for events.
- Act as one of the spokespeople for the organization, receive visitors, arrange interviews and make short
presentation about Avataq.
Job requirements:
- Two to five years of experience in related fields.
- A university degree or college diploma in public relations, communications, journalism, or a discipline
related to a particular subject matter.
- Experience in cultural or artistic projects management, and in editing, writing or coordinating editorial
projects.
- Familiarity with issues related to cultural development in a northern or indigenous context.
- Proficiency in office tools, and knowledge of publishing processes, including revision, translation and
layout.
- Bilingual (Inuktitut and English or French), and excellent writing and communication skills.
- Ability to organize and facilitate events or workshops. Organizational skills, attention to detail,
deadlines and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders and initiative and the ability to work
independently.
Additional information:
- Full time permanent position.
- Salary: from $52,100 to $78,200 annual, according to experience and qualifications. Added benefits for
