STATUS:

REPLACEMENT FULL-TIME

sALARY:

$22.20/hour

POSSIBLE BENEFITS:

NATURE OF THE WORK:

The principal and customary work of an employee in this class of employment consists in taking part in all of the simple tasks performed by a cook of a higher class in the preparation and cooking of food or in being responsible for a kitchen and a cafeteria where, for the most part, simple food is prepared according to menus, recipes and detailed cooking instructions.

FUNCTIONS:

Besides preparing and cooking the food, this job includes the following responsibilities:

·       Prepare meals, including breakfast;

·       Cut meats, prepare soups, sauces, salads, pastries and desserts;

·       Monitor the inventory levels and submit purchase orders;

·       Verify goods delivered and their conservation;

·       Participate in the food distribution;

·       Prepare menus according to nutrition standards;

·       Contribute in placing and serving food;

·       Perform any other relevant task determined by his/her immediate superior.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies in Professional Cooking or in any other appropriate specialty for the class of employment or a diploma or an attestation of studies recognized as equivalent by the competent authority or have one (1) year of pertinent experience.

The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

REQUIREMENTS:

·       Relevant experience in institutional cooking;

·       Fluent in two of the working languages of the school board (Inuktitut, French, English);

·       A MAPAQ attestation is considered an asset.

work schedule: 35 hours / week
