POSITION: Court Interpreter / Translator
LOCATION: Montreal / Nunavik
ABOUT US: Apatakaa Translations is an Inuit owned corporation located in Quebec and serving
all Inuit regions of Canada.

clients and our team of translators and interpreters. For our clients, we guarantee a dedicated
point of contact for every project, providing continuity and personalized service. Likewise, for our
language professionals, we directly source and assign projects, offering a singular contact point
for all their assignments. This approach not only streamlines communication but also enhances
overall project consistency and satisfaction.
As an important member of the Apatakaa Translations team, the Interpreter / Translator will
provide professional interpretation and written translation upon the needs of the corporation. In
addition to their core duties, which are further detailed below;
Responsibilities:
- Conduct seamless and professional interpretation during multi-person
conference calls, virtual meetings on platforms like Zoom or Teams, as well as inperson at court & detention settings.
- Ensure clear and concise communication to all participants within all settings,
delivering information accurately and in a professional manner.
- Adapt to changing schedules, coordinating tasks efficiently to meet the dynamic
needs of clients and the team.
- Traveling within Montreal, Nunavik, and other regions as required, while
demonstrating the ability to work independently and efficiently from a home
office for virtual requests.
- Fulfill any other duties related to translation and interpretation as requested.
- Translate documents from English to Inuktitut and vice versa, adhering to
company guidelines for linguistic accuracy and cultural appropriateness, is an
asset.
Required Skills:
- Exceptional multitasking ability.
- Proficiency in Inuktitut and English; French proficiency is advantageous.

- Demonstrate ability to handle and safeguard confidential information.
- Dependable and self-sufficient.
- Experience in video-conferencing platforms like Teams/Zoom/Webex.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint).
Training: We provide on-site training, allowing you to work directly with experienced
interpreters / translators to enhance your skills and build confidence in your abilities.
Employment Type: Apatakaa recognizes the significance of family and adaptability in
today's evolving work landscape. As such, this position is available for remote work,
however also includes working within a detention center and travel when necessary to
Nunavik amongst other locations.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 per year
Benefits: Travel Benefits (Anywhere in World) $10,000/year
Housing Benefits $10,200/year
Isolation Premium $10,000/year
Gas & Cargo Allowance $3,500 each/year
RRSP contributions (After 6 months) 6% of Base Salary
Paid Vacation (4 Weeks) + Christmas Holidays (2 Weeks)
Sick Days (2 Weeks)
