CULTURAL COMMITTEE COORDINATOR

Avataq is currently seeking for a professional and dynamic candidates for the position of Cultural Committee Coordinator – Ittsanitakuvilirijiit Cultural Committee - Puvirnituq.

Under the Supervision of the Director of Local Cultural Committee Development and working closely with the Northern Village and the local community representatives, the Cultural Committee Coordinator supports the Local Cultural Committee in realizing its mandate.

Responsibilities:

-    Work with the Director of Local Cultural Committees Development and the Local cultural Committees in realizing their goals and mandate.

-    Listen and respond appropriately to support the communities.

-    Animate meetings, take and prepare meeting notes.

-    Collaborate with the different departments of Avataq in their projects.

-    Find financial resources & other.

-    Prepare proposals and reports to communities.

-    Draft newsletter or any communication to the communities (email, social media).

-    Cooperate in and publicize the development of community-based projects.

-    Ensure clerical work for the proper functioning of the committees, including setting up and maintaining local files in established filing system, updating agenda in coordination with Director of Local Cultural Committees Development, taking and preparing meetings notes.

-    Manage payments, prepare budgets and submit project financial reports.

Job requirements:

-    High school diploma

-    1 to 3 years of experience in similar position. Experience in management and administrative tasks.

-    Knowledge of Inuit culture.

-    Knowledge of Inuktitut (written, spoken). 

-    Bilingualism (English is a strong asset).

-    Writing skills, advanced computer skills. 

-    Proven abilities in leadership (communication, ability to lead).

-    Abilities in organization, planning, logistics, and reporting.

-    Strong interpersonal and communication skills and team worker.

-    Interest and curiosity about Inuit culture.

-    Availability for trainings.

-    Availability to travel regularly.

Additional information:

-    Permanent, full time.

-    Salary between $47,400 and $71,100 – Added benefits for JBNQA beneficiaries.

-    Location of work: Puvirnituq.
