The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), incorporated under the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement 

(section 15) as well as the Act respecting health services and social services, covers the entire territory located north of the 55th parallel. 

Its mission is to adapt health and social services programs to the population’s needs and the region’s realities and to ensure efficient 

organization of the resources made available to the Nunavik region. 

The regional board seeks to fill the following two (2) temporary assignments:

DEPARTMENT AND SERVICE: DIRECTION NUNAVINGMI ILAGIIT PAPATAUVINGA, # 43001 - NIP 

Nunavingmi Ilagiit Papatauvinga (NIP) is a new Inuit-led organization created to develop and deliver services for Inuit 

children, youth and families throughout Nunavik. While NIP currently operates under the umbrella of the Nunavik 

Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), it will soon become an independent Inuit organization. 

As part of its development, NIP is creating community-based services rooted in Inuit knowledge, language, culture and 

values. Through the Pigiarviliutik project, NIP is developing its first integrated community service delivery model in 

Inukjuak while expanding key services to other Nunavik communities. 

ABOUT ILIRRUSIIRSITAILITITSIJI 

Every Inuit child has the right to grow up knowing who they are, where they come from and what it means to be Inuk. 

When children receive services or are temporarily living away from their families, it is especially important that they 

remain connected to their language, culture, land, Elders and community. 

Ilirrusiirsitailititsiji exists to help make sure those connections remain strong. 

DESCRIPTION 

As a NIP Cultural Worker, you will build meaningful relationships with children and youth, helping them strengthen 

their cultural identity and sense of belonging. You will organize opportunities to learn from Elders, participate in 

cultural activities, practice Inuktitut, spend time on the land and stay connected to their families, community and 

Inuit traditions. This is an opportunity to help ensure that every child grows with pride in being Inuk. 

Your responsibilities also include: 

• Contribute to Cultural Continuity Plans for children and youth;  

• Build trusting relationships with children, youth and their families;  

• Organize and facilitate cultural activities and land-based experiences;  

• Promote Inuit language, history, traditional knowledge and values;  

• Support children and youth in strengthening their cultural identity;  

• Develop cultural resources for NIP and its partners;  

• Work closely with Elders, cultural knowledge holders and community organizations;  

• Support youth as they prepare for adulthood and greater independence;  

• Participate in team meetings and collaborative planning;  

• Maintain accurate and confidential records;  

• Participate in urgent interventions when required.  

 REQUIREMENTS 

• Be a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement; 

• Fluent in Inuktitut and able to communicate in English and/or French;  

• Demonstrated knowledge of Inuit culture, language and traditions;  

• Enjoys working with children and youth;  

• Creative, organized and dependable;  

• Enjoys planning activities and bringing people together;  

• Builds positive relationships based on trust and respect;  

• Eager to help build a new Inuit-led service. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

• Work location: Primarily based in Inukjuak; however, candidates from other Nunavik communities will also be 

considered. Travel may be required depending on service activities. 

• Interviews will potentially be held during the week of September 7 or September 14, 2026; 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

• Full-time temporary position, 35 hours per week; 

• Day shift; 

• Salary in accordance with MSSS conditions and the candidate’s qualifications for the job title of a community 

worker ($28.40/h to $40.88/h). 

Northern benefits: Employees who settle in Nunavik may be eligible for several premiums, including a retention 

premium, a remoteness premium and a cost-of-living premium. Those hired more than 50 km from Kuujjuaq are 

offered low-cost housing, along with reimbursement of moving and storage costs. Annual personal trips from 

Kuujjuaq to the point of hire and other benefits are also included.
