Driver/Maintenance Person

FULL TIME POSITION

6 hours a day/30 Hours per week

Duties

Under the authority of the director, the Driver/Maintenance Person is responsible in operating the Tasiurvik/Natturaq  vehicles and keeping up with light maintenance of the vehicle. This person is responsible for major maintenance of the center’s equipment, building and surroundings.

Tasks

• Transport children and personnel to and from designated places as per schedule:

• Daily fluid checks on the vehicle:

• Daily brake inspections:

• Keep the vehicles fueled at all time:

• Weekly tire inspections:

• Adequately maintain the vehicle from season to season:

• Maintain and repair heating and plumbing systems of the building:

• Maintain belts and air filters of the vehicles on a monthly basis:

• Weekly adjustments of doors and hardware:

• Replacement of bulbs, florescent tubes and ballast as needed:

• Patching, plastering and painting of walls and ceilings annually:

• Repairing and replacement of flooring as needed:

• Keeps all exits/entrances clear of snow and other objects that could jeopardize the safety of the personal on a daily basis:

• Prepare requisitions for orders as needed for both the vehicles and the both centers:

• Performs safety checks with regard to safety of vehicle, children and personal:

• Perform any other related tasks advised by the director:

The selected candidate must:

• Be at least 20 years of age

• Be a resident of Inukjuak

• A criminal record check mandatory upon application

• Must hold a valid driver’s permit Class 2, 3, 4a, and 4c

• Must be fluent in 2 of the 3 languages: Inuktitut, English or French

• Have a diploma in First Aid is a definite asset 

Location: Tasiurvik/Natturaq Childcare Centre, Inukjuak Quebec

Salary: Hourly rate: Regular Cargo and CLD $17.89 + 7.50  + 7.50 = $32.89 

Travel benefits: when you make 780 hrs 

Benefits: New employees will be eligible once the employees have completed 6 Months of work  

Place of work: Tasiurvik Childcare Center and Natturaq Childcare Inukjuak Quebec
