Kativik Ilisarniliriniq (KI) is a school board offering educational services in the 14 communities of Nunavik.
FUNCTION & DUTIES:
The Education Consultant for Healthy Schools works under the supervision of the Assistant Director of School Operations and is responsible for:
- The development, implementation, evaluation and revision of programs on “Healthy Schools” in cooperation with the curriculum services team and the school’s principals and Student Counsellors.
- Helping in the organization of in-service training for Student Counsellors in the implementation of the “Healthy Schools” programs.
- Ensure the development of the “Healthy Schools” jointly with the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services and other organizations promoting healthy living.
- Acting as a liaison between all organizations possibly involved in reaching the goals of the “Healthy Schools” program.
- Working with KI staff and community clinical workers to ensure integrated actions; in collaboration with schools and health centers, and to create working groups in order to implement the “Healthy Schools” programs.
- Participate in the development, revision and adaptation of culturally relevant programs and teaching materials related to “Healthy Schools” goals.
- Overseeing funding allocations for Healthy Schools and Child First Initiative (CFI )programs.
- Performing any other relevant tasks at the discretion of the Assistant Director of Complementary and Compassionate Services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
First level University Degree in a relevant specialization consistent with the requirements of this position such as Education or Guidance Counseling.
The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bilingualism in two of the Kativik Ilisarniliriniq’s three official languages (French, English, Inuktitut).
- Good communication and collaborations skills.
- Maturity, ability to work independently.
- Able to work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience in budgeting;
- Willingness to travel to various Nunavik communities.
CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:
In accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals. This position belongs to job category 2104: from $49,456 to $92,027 annually depending on qualification and experience. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
