Job Description

Person who ensures the education and re-education of users in an institutional or external environment

according to intervention programs established in collaboration with the team of professionals in place, with a

view to the adaptation or rehabilitation of the individual or his reintegration into society. She applies education

techniques using the actions of daily life, by organizing, coordinating and leading the activities planned in the

program, to ensure learning and the acquisition of appropriate attitudes and behaviors. She observes and

analyzes the behavior of users, participates in the evaluation of their needs and their capacities and notes their

evolution by writing the appropriate documents. CLASS 01 Must hold a diploma of college studies (DEC) in

techniques of specialized education or delinquency intervention techniques from a school recognized by the

competent ministry. This class also includes people who hold a certificate of college studies in specialized

education techniques or institutional rehabilitation. CLASS 02 This person must hold a diploma of fourteen (14)

years of general education recognized by the competent ministry or a certificate of executive educator for

exceptional children recognized by the Ministry of Health and Social Services and the competent ministry, and/or

have completed fifty percent (50%) of the general course leading to the official diploma in institutional

rehabilitation or specialized education (CEGEP course).

Specific functions

Works directly to ensure the education and rehabilitation of youth clients placed in rehabilitation Center under YPA or YCJA. In accordance with intervention programs established in collaboration with the existing professional team, with the view of the rehabilitation or reintegration of the clients in the society. Implements educational techniques by using daily living activities and by organising, co-ordinating, animating and leading a scheduled program in order to ensure the client learning and acquiring suitable attitudes and behaviours. Observes and analyses the client’s behaviour, participates in the evaluation of their needs and abilities, and keeps progress notes and produces appropriate reports.Collaborates with social workers in the development of intervention plans based on the youth needs and the legal mandate entrusted. The goal is to end the compromise situation and avoid multiple placements. As a last resort and in an imminent danger, the educator may have to intervene physically with the clientele.
