The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), incorporated under the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement 

(section 15) as well as the Act respecting health services and social services, covers the entire territory located north of the 55th parallel. 

Its mission is to adapt health and social services programs to the population’s needs and the region’s realities and to ensure efficient 

organization of the resources made available to the Nunavik region. 

The regional board seeks to fill the following five (5) temporary positions:

DEPARTMENT AND SERVICE: NUNAVINGMI ILAGIIT PAPATAUVINGA, # 43001 – NIP 

Nunavingmi Ilagiit Papatauvinga (NIP) is a new Inuit-led organization created to develop and deliver services for 

Inuit children, youth and families throughout Nunavik. While NIP currently operates under the umbrella of the 

Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), it will soon become an independent Inuit 

organization. 

As part of its development, NIP is creating community-based services rooted in Inuit knowledge, language, 

culture and values. Through the Pigiarviliutik project, NIP is developing its first integrated community service 

delivery model in Inukjuak while expanding key services to other Nunavik communities. 

ABOUT TUQQAVIK 

Tuqqavik is NIP's first point of contact for children, youth and families seeking support. It helps families 

understand the services available to them, identifies their needs, and connects them with the most appropriate 

programs, community resources or protection services when required. 

Tuqqavik is designed to make it easier for Nunavimmiut to find help, receive guidance and access the right 

support as early as possible. The first Tuqqavik services are being established in Inukjuak, Puvirnituq and 

Kuujjuaq, with the goal of expanding across Nunavik. 

DESCRIPTION 

As a Tuqqavik Family Support Worker, you will often be the first person families meet when they reach out for 

help. 

Your role is to welcome people with kindness and respect, listen to their concerns, help them understand the 

supports available, and walk alongside them as they access services. 

You will work closely with families, Elders, community organizations and other service providers to strengthen 

the well-being of Inuit children, youth and families. This is an opportunity to help build a new Inuit-led service 

for Nunavimmiut, by Nunavimmiut. 

Your responsibilities also include: 

• Welcome children, youth and families seeking support;  

• Listen carefully to understand each family's needs and strengths;  

• Help families access appropriate services, programs and community resources;  

• Maintain regular contact with families and provide ongoing support when appropriate;  

• Work collaboratively with Elders, community organizations and service providers;  

• Facilitate Ilagiit Council meetings and support families throughout the process;  

• Participate in team meetings and case discussions;  

• Maintain accurate and confidential records;  

• Participate in urgent or emergency interventions when required;  

• Help create a welcoming, respectful and culturally safe service for Nunavimmiut.  

REQUIREMENTS 

• Be a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement; 

• Have strong communication skills in Inuktitut, with the ability to communicate in English and/or French; 

• Enjoy working with children, youth and families; 

• Have strong knowledge of Inuit culture, language and community life; 

• Treat people with respect and without judgment; 

• Work well with others and remain calm in challenging situations; 

• Be organized, reliable and willing to learn. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

• Work location: Inukjuak, Puvirnituq or Kuujjuaq. Travel may be required depending on service activities; 

• Please note that interviews will potentially be conducted during the week of September 7 or 

September 14, 2026; 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

• Full-time temporary position, 35 hours/week; 

• Day shift; 

• Salary according to MSSS conditions and the candidate’s qualifications ($28.40/hr to $40.88/hr). 

Northern benefits: Employees who settle in Nunavik may be eligible for various premiums, including a retention 

premium, a remoteness premium and a cost-of-living premium. For those hired more than 50 km from 

Kuujjuaq, low-cost housing is provided, along with reimbursement of moving and storage costs. In addition, 

annual personal trips from Kuujjuaq to the point of hire are included, as well as other benefits.
