POSITION
Job Title : Fisheries Biologist
Reports to: The Assistant Director of Nunavik Research Centre in the
Department of Environment, Wildlife and Research.
Location: Kuujjuaq
Status of Employment: Permanent
Salary: According to the Salary Scale

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Planning, coordinating & implementing fisheries research and monitoring
programs across Nunavik;
- Planning, coordinating, and participating in field work in remote locations;
- Support local and regional organizations in developing & implementing fisheries
research and monitoring programs
- Preparing reports, funding submissions, and research proposals, as required
- Interpret data, prepare detailed reports, and communicate findings in meetings and
presentations;
- Ability to work independently and in a multidisciplinary research environment;
- to advance research and knowledge on Nunavik fish populations;
- Collaborate with and provide technical advice to researchers and community members;
- Supervise technical staff / students, as required;
- Be available to travel, as requested;
- Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by
supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum M.Sc.;
- Two (2) to three (3) years’ experience in a related field;
- Good communication skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) languages: Inuktitut,
English and/or French;
- Proficient computer skills : Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PPT, ArcGIS,
etc.);
- Field experience working in remote or Northern environments a pre-requisite;
- Laboratory experience a pre-requisite;
- Demonstrable report writing capacity and presentations at meetings;
- Experience working with Indigenous communities an asset;
- Leadership experience an asset;
- Excellent analytical, organization, problem-solving, prioritization, and communication
skills.
