The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), incorporated under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement
(section 15) as well as the Act respecting health services and social services, covers the entire territory located north of the 55th parallel.
Its mission is to adapt health and social services programs to the population’s needs and the region’s realities and to ensure efficient
organization of the resources made available to the Nunavik region.
The regional board seeks to fill the following two (2) temporary positions (maternity leave replacements):

DEPARTMENT AND SERVICE: NUNAVINGMI ILAGIIT PAPATAUVINGA, # 43001 - NIP
Nunavingmi Ilagiit Papatauvinga (NIP) is a new Inuit-led organization created to develop and deliver services for
Inuit children, youth and families throughout Nunavik. While NIP currently operates under the umbrella of the
Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), it will soon become an independent Inuit
organization.
As part of its development, NIP is creating community-based services rooted in Inuit knowledge, language,
culture and values. Through the Pigiarviliutik project, NIP is developing its first integrated community service
delivery model in Inukjuak while expanding key services to other Nunavik communities in support of children,
youth and families.
ABOUT ANIRAULAURTUTUT KAMAJIGNIT (FOSTER HOME SERVICES)
Aniraulaurtutut Kamajignit (AK) supports Inuit foster families who open their homes to children in need of care.
AK works alongside foster parents, helping them feel supported, confident and connected as they provide a
safe, stable and caring home. The service also helps ensure that children remain connected to their families,
culture, language and community whenever possible.
DESCRIPTION
As a Foster Family Worker, you will build strong relationships with foster families and the children in their care.
You will encourage, support and guide foster parents as they care for children with different experiences and
needs. Through regular visits, practical support and collaboration with other professionals, you will help foster
families succeed and help children thrive.
This is an opportunity to strengthen Inuit foster care by supporting the families who make it possible.
Your responsibilities also include:
• Recruit and support Inuit foster families;
• Build trusting relationships with foster parents and children;
• Conduct home visits and provide ongoing support;
• Help foster parents respond to children's individual needs;
• Facilitate foster parent training and learning opportunities;
• Provide support during challenging situations or family crises;
• Monitor children's well-being and progress in collaboration with families;
• Work closely with NIP staff and community partners;
• Maintain accurate and confidential records;
• Help strengthen a safe, caring and culturally grounded foster care system for Nunavimmiut.
REQUIREMENTS
• Be a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement;
• Strong communication skills in Inuktitut, with the ability to communicate in English and/or French;
• Demonstrated ability to work with children and families;
• Ability to build trusting relationships;
• Patient, respectful and solution-oriented;
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team;
• Organized, dependable and willing to learn.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• Work location: one of the 14 communities in Nunavik. Travel may be required depending on service
activities;
• Please note that interviews will potentially be conducted during the week of September 7 or
September 14, 2026.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Full-time temporary position, 35 hours/week for an indefinite period (maternity leave replacement);
• Day shift;
• Salary according to MSSS conditions and the candidate’s qualifications for the job title Human Relations
Officer ($31.03/hr to $54.98/hr).
Northern benefits: Employees who settle in Nunavik may be eligible for various premiums, including a retention
premium, a remoteness premium and a cost-of-living premium. For those hired more than 50 km from
Kuujjuaq, low-cost housing is provided, along with reimbursement of moving and storage costs. In addition,
annual personal trips from Kuujjuaq to the point of hire are included, as well as other benefits.
Employees of the health and social services network are potentially eligible for the northern leave without
pay.
