The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), established under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement
(Chapter 15) and the Act respecting health services and social services, serves the entire territory located north of the 55th parallel. As an
Inuit organization, its mission is to create and manage health and social services programs tailored to the needs of the population and the
realities of the region, and to ensure the efficient organization of the resources made available to the Nunavik region.
The Regional Board wishes to fill the following temporary position:

DEPARTMENT AND SERVICE: DIRECTORATE OF ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES – SERVICE # 10005 TECHNICAL SERVICES
DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Coordinator of Capital Assets, Maintenance and Equipment Replacement, and under the daily supervision
of the Building Advisor, the General Maintenance Worker is responsible for the routine and preventive maintenance of the
building portfolio.
The incumbent carries out various minor repair, adjustment and maintenance tasks to ensure the proper functioning of the
buildings and facilities. They work in close collaboration with the building technicians to support maintenance activities and
ensure the quality of the infrastructure.
Your responsibilities also include:
• Carrying out minor emergency interventions in the mechanical rooms;
• Performing preventive maintenance and minor preventive replacements (e.g. air filters, windows);
• Ensuring the general upkeep of the building portfolio and carrying out landscaping work;
• Accompanying contractors on site during work or interventions, and providing assistance as needed;
• Carrying out minor furniture repairs as well as furniture assembly;
• Writing brief work reports on the tasks performed;
• Ensuring that equipment is functioning properly and report any malfunctions requiring specialized attention;
• Completing basic maintenance on tools, equipment, and vehicles used in operations;
• Recommending the purchase of materials and equipment.
REQUIREMENTS
• For candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, a relevant combination of
experience and training may be considered;
• Hold a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) from a recognized school in one of the trades or occupations performed, in
accordance with the Act respecting workforce vocational training and qualification, or possess equivalent skills;
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (territorial licence accepted) – a vehicle is provided for carrying out the work;
• Basic computer skills;
• ASP Construction health and safety card as well as Skytrack / aerial lift certification (assets);
• Functional English; command of at least two of the three languages used in Nunavik (Inuktitut, English, French).
SKILLS AND DESIRED PROFILE
• A proactive approach to maintaining the building portfolio, with the ability to work independently and to manage
priorities and emergencies;
• A sense of responsibility and concern for a job well done, with the rigour needed to follow up and write brief reports on
the work carried out;
• Resourcefulness and a keen sense of observation to detect maintenance problems and respond to them appropriately;
• Good manual dexterity and versatility in carrying out a variety of tasks (mechanical work, carpentry, landscaping);
• A collaborative and service-oriented attitude, with the ability to work as part of a team with the building technicians and
to assist stakeholders as needed;
• Demonstrated sense of cultural safety with the ability to adapt interactions to the realities of Nunavimmiut.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• Home base: Position based in Kuujjuaq;
• Please note that interviews may be held during the week of September 7 or September 14, 2026.
Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement will be given priority.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Full-time temporary position, 35 hours/week for a period of one year;
• Day shift;
• Salary according to MSSS conditions ($29.37/h).
