General Manager – Job Posting 

Unaaq Men’s Association of Inukjuak 

Located in Inukjuak, Nunavik, the Unaaq Mens Association is community led initiative by the local 

Inuit men of Inukjuak to assure that traditional skills and values are passed down to the younger 

generation of men and boys. 

Unaaq Men’s Association of Inukjuak has a mandate to traditionally support the young men and 

boys of the community to become expert hunters and providers of the community by working 

closely with the elders and experienced hunters. Unaaq is devoted to passing down traditional 

skills and knowledge for many generations to come. 

JOB DESCRIPTION 

Under the supervision of the Board of directors, the General Manager will be responsible for the 

Unaaq men’s association overall activities and the employees. 

Unaaq Men’s Association of Inukjuak has posted the position of general manager. The general 

manager will work full-time at the office of Unaaq and work with the board of directors and the 

employees of Unaaq. The general manager will budget and plan for each month and year, by 

working with the board members and the employees. The general manager will also work on the 

reports of each activity and help keep track of all expenses. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Attend board meetings with the board and take meeting notes. 

• Plan and prepare for each month for traditional skills development – hunting, survival skills or 

making traditional tools and equipment. 

• Announce the planned activities through the local radio and Unaaq Facebook Page. 

• Gather list of trainers/guides that would provide traditional skills training to youth and young 

men. 

• Gather list of participants to participate in the traditional skills development activities. 

• Produce short summary reports of activities of - who participated, what were the activities 

and produce the related activity expense reports. 

• Report to the board of directors of Unaaq. 

• Manage the employees of Unaaq, directed by the board and managed by the general 

manager. 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

Place of work: Unaaq Mens Association office 

✓ Permanent / Full-time 35 hours per week 

✓ Yearly salary is determined by candidate’s experience 

✓ 12 sick days per year

✓ Annual leave trips: 2 per person annualy
