The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), incorporated under the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (section 15) as well as the Act respecting health services and social services, covers the entire territory located north of the 55th parallel. Its mission is to adapt health and social services programs to the population’s needs and the region’s realities and to ensure efficient organization of the resources made available to the Nunavik region.

MANAGEMENT AND DEPARTMENT:
PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT, # 40,005, PREVENTION AND HEALTH PROMOTION
DESCRIPTION
As a Health Promotion Advisor, you will play a key role in developing, implementing, and evaluating communication strategies that support health promotion and prevention initiatives in Nunavik. Under the authority of the Public Health Director, you will work closely with the communications coordination team to ensure organizational coherence while meeting the specific needs of public health promotion-prevention teams (mental health, sexual health, nutrition, food security, tobacco and chronic disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, community support, men’s health).
Your main mandate will be to create, adapt, and disseminate communication content and tools tailored to the cultural and linguistic realities of the territory, with a focus on awareness, education, and community mobilization.
Your responsibilities also include to:
• Develop strategic communication plans for social marketing tailored to public health promotion-prevention activities;
• Design and produce health promotion and prevention communication tools (posters, videos, etc.), in collaboration with the communications coordination team;
• Evaluate the best dissemination strategies and deploy them across various platforms (social media, newsletters, website, etc.);
• Support the development of communication skills within public health promotion-prevention teams, particularly in intercultural communication;
• Actively contribute to the redesign and improvement of digital platforms related to public health;
• Promote smooth and coherent internal communication within the department and between teams.
REQUIREMENTS
• Must have a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or another relevant academic discipline;
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in communications, public relations, and/or media management;
• For candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, a combination of relevant experience and training may be considered;
• Good knowledge of public health communication principles, health promotion, and social marketing;
• Proficiency in social media and digital community engagement strategies;
• Knowledge of communication practices in intercultural contexts, particularly in Indigenous settings;
• Excellent skills of at least two of the three languages used in the region: Inuktitut, English, or French;
• Good knowledge of Inuit culture and the northern context (important asset);
• Experience in the health and social services network (asset);
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams;
• Skill in managing multiple projects simultaneously with rigour and creativity;
• Talent for simplifying and adapting complex content for various audiences;
• Analytical mindset focused on action and solutions;
• Proficiency in digital tools, web platforms, and social media.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• Please note that interviews may take place during the week of November 3, 2025;
• Home base: Temporary assignment based in the North (Kuujjuaq). Residence in the North is prioritized; however, teleworking from the South is possible depending on operational needs. Please note that travel to the North may be required depending on training activities.
Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement shall receive priority.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Temporary full-time assignment (35 hours/week) for a period of one year with the possibility of extension;
• Day shift;
• Salary according to the conditions of the MSSS and the qualifications of the candidate ($29.31/h to $48.62/h).
