JOB OPPORTUNITY 

The Kativik Regional Government (KRG), a supra municipal body with jurisdiction 

over the territory located north of the 55th parallel, is now looking for a self-motivated 

and dynamic individual interested in joining the KRG to work in the capacity of:  

IMPLEMENTATION AND FACILITIES SPECIALIST 

TAMAANI INTERNET SERVICES SECTION 

(PERMANENT, FULL-TIME) 

Reporting to the Field Operations Coordinator, the Implementation and Facilities 

Specialist supports and maintains KRG’s telecommunications networks, which serve 

in-community authorities, businesses and residences.  He also works closely with 

KRG’s Network Operations and Customer Service groups to assist with the day-to

day operations, and implementation of new services. 

• Install, maintain and repair the following in-community network systems and 

components according to detailed engineering schematics and industry best 

practices: 

o Fiber distribution network, including: 

  •  Fiber plant core 
  •  Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) distribution 
  •  Fiber to businesses 

o Fixed Wireless systems, networks and links (Point-to-Point and 

Point-to-MultiPoint systems), including: 

  •  Radios 
  •  Antennas 
  •  RF cabling (LDF, RG, LMR) and connectors 

o Mobile Wireless systems 

  •  LTE (data-only) distribution 
  •  Wimax NextNet systems 

o Fixed Satellite system links 

o Ethernet cabling 

• Install FTTH networking equipment and related accessories and 

components such as fiber drops, Ethernet drops, jacks and cabling at the 

customer’s premises 

• Splice fiber lines and install drops to additional customers; 

• Install network components such as switches, routers, access points and 

others under the supervision of the Network Operations group. 

• Troubleshoot signal quality problems at customer’s premises (Fiber, 

Ethernet and other technologies); 

• Record discrepancies and report to Network and Field Operations groups; 

• Keep an accurate stock record of installed equipment and stocks and issue 

low stock warning; 

• Ensure regular preventative maintenance is done on existing network 

components; 

• Interact with Network Operations Center (NOC) during outages, emergency  

interventions and reported problems; 

• Participate in the evaluation of new technologies and the expansion of 

network systems; 

• Keep site documentation of data and voice networks accurate and up to date 

and help develop diagnostic procedures; 

• Carry out any other tasks requested by the supervisor. 

REQUIREMENTS 

• Possessing a College diploma in a related technology; 

• Having a minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a telecommunications 

technician;  

• Hold a solid experience working with optical fiber technology installations 

and/or experience with coaxial cabling; 

• Experience working with fiber splicer, OTRD, FTTH PON or GPON, Working 

knowledge of Calix technologies will be considered an asset; 

• Having excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve unforeseen 

network problems; 

• Able to perform work that is physical in nature and under bad weather 

conditions from time to time (climb ladders, roofs, etc.); 

• Able to transfer his knowledge to others and explain technical details to 

customers in an easy understandable manner; 

• Meticulous, structured and being able to work under pressure; 

• Have a strong customer service oriented personality. 

• Be reliable, autonomous, and possess a great sense of initiative and 

communication skills. 

• Ability to communicate orally and in writing in at least two of the following 

languages: Inuktitut, English, French; working knowledge of Inuktitut is a 

definite asset; 

• Being available to travel. 

Work experience North of 55th parallel is a definite asset. 

• Work schedule and place of work: 6-3 rotation schedule: 6 weeks working in the 

Northern Villages (52.5 hours weekly), followed by 3 weeks paid leave (35 hours 

weekly) 

OR 

• Work schedule and place of work: 4-2 rotation schedule: 4 weeks working in the 

Northern Villages, followed by 2 weeks paid leave (35 hours weekly); 

Place of work        Nunavik, Québec  

Salary:                  Minimum $52,482 to maximum $89,256 annually (Class 8)   

Benefits:        

Travel expenses paid, while in Nunavik; 

Simplified Pension Plan: 6.25% employer, 4% employee; 

Group Insurance; 

Vacation: 20 days/year; 

Statutory Holidays: 20 days including 10 days during Christmas
