JOB POSTING- JANITOR

Under the supervision of the coordinator, the janitor will have the responsibilities of keeping the youth center clean and safe for the youth. He/she will have to make sure no janitorial supplies are missing, and keep the coordinator aware of any malfunction in the youth center.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    Clean and care for buildings and facilities in order to ensure they are maintained in a safe and healthy manner.

Main tasks;

•     Clean offices, meeting chambers recreational facilities;

•     Mop tile and concrete floor areas;

•     Vacuum all carpeted areas;

•     Dust all furniture and fixtures as required;

•     Was and disinfect all washroom floors, toilets, seats, hand dryers and fixtures;

•     Clean all mirrors;

•     Replenish toilet tissue and soap as needed;

•     Empty all waste baskets and garbage cans;

•     Place garbage in outside storage bin;

•     Clean entrance and exit including glass, doors and hardware;

•     Keep outside area near exit and entrance clear of snow, cans, papers, etc.

•    Clean, wash and disinfect drinking fountains;

•     Wash all fingers marks from walls, doors, hardware and glass;

•     Perform and /or report minor maintenance repairs;

•     Clean kitchen sinks and counters;

•     Report damages and acts of vandalism;

•     Wash and buff floors with floor polisher;

•     Wash entrance and exit floors;

•     Spot clean walls and toilet partitions;

2.    Main storage areas and cleaning equipment, materials and supplies in a safe and orderly manner in order t ensure the safety of staff and the public;

Main tasks

•    Secure storage areas;

•     Ensure cleaning materials and supplies are stored in a safe and orderly manner

•     Maintain an adequate supply of cleaning material and supplies;

•     Restock materials and supplies;

•     Make note of the need for equipment repairs.

3.    Working conditions

The janitor will have to work 20 hours a week, with an hourly rate of $26.60/hour starting rate up to $ 31 per hour.

4.    Requirements

Candidates must be 15 years old and over; must be very responsible, organized available and reliable. Ideally, experience in janitorial activities is an asset. However, any experience that demonstrates the candidate is hard-working, respectful of safety regulations, and attentive to detail is considered an asset.
