Local Manager - Anguvigaq of Inukjuaq
JOB OPPORTUNITY WITH THE LOCAL
ANGUVIGAQ OF INUKJUAK
Our organization protects and promotes
Inuit harvesting rights while ensuring sustainability for future generations on
the local level. We contribute Inuit expertise to management decision-making,
coordinate local management and research initiatives, facilitate Inuit access
to harvest for food security and cultural revitalization, and communicate local
concerns to the Regional Anguvigaq.
LOCAL
MANAGER
The Local Anguvigaq Manager would be responsible
for assisting the local Anguvigaq board with their responsibilities, finances,
administration, and communication.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Meeting support – organizes meetings
(approx. 2 times a month), develops the agenda with the President and takes
meeting notes (minutes) and saves the meeting minutes in the office
·
Communicates between the local board
and the regional Anguvigaq as well as among other co-management partners (e.g.
Makivvik, NMRWB, government)
·
Maintains, develops and updates
by-laws as needed
·
Takes care of daily bookkeeping
o
Keeps all receipts to upload
o
Provides monthly updates to the Board
on finances (budget vs actual spending)
o
Prepares the annual budget and
financial and activity reports with the help of the Anguvigait Finance Officer
·
Responsible for wildlife matters
o
Communicates important regional
wildlife information to the local board and the community
o
Communicates local marine wildlife to
the regional Anguvigaq, the NMRWB and other co-management partners
o
Supports the local board in
establishing local marine wildlife by-laws
o
Assists the local BOD in working on
marine wildlife matters (e.g. preparing submissions to public hearing,
responding to potential research projects, applying for community research
projects)
o
Develops research project proposals in
coordination with the local board
SKILLS AND
QUALIFICATIONS

Independent worker
·
Fluent in English and Inuktitut, but
in speaking and in writing
·
Knowledge of Office Equipment
(Computer, Emails, Microsoft Office, Excel etc.)
·
Creative and effective communicator
