Position: Municipal Garage Manager
The Northern Village of Inukjuak is seeking a qualified and highly organized Municipal Garage Manager to oversee the daily operations
of the municipal garage. Under the authority of the Municipal Manager and in accordance with the powers and operational
responsibilities assigned to municipalities under the Kativik Act, the Garage Manager is responsible for supervising staff, ensuring the
proper maintenance of municipal vehicles and heavy equipment, and overseeing inventory, safety, and planning.
Main Responsibilities
• Managing the daily operations of the municipal garage in compliance with municipal policies and standards set forth under
the Kativik Act.
• Supervising mechanics, maintenance workers, and other garage staff; organizing schedules, assigning tasks, and ensuring
quality of work.
• Ensuring preventive and corrective maintenance on municipal vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery, including snow
removal equipment, water and sewage trucks, graders, loaders, pickup trucks, and small engines.
• Diagnosing mechanical problems and coordinating repairs efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Managing parts inventory, supplies, tools, and fuel stocks; ensuring proper tracking and ordering of materials.
• Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, vehicle logs, inspections, and safety reports.
• Ensuring the garage, equipment, and work areas comply with all health and safety regulations.
• Preparing maintenance schedules and seasonal readiness plans (winter operations, thaw period, summer work programs).
• Performing any other duties assigned by the municipal administration.
Requirements
• Significant experience in mechanics, heavy equipment maintenance, or garage operations.
• Strong ability to supervise staff and organize work.
• Knowledge of heavy machinery, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and diagnostic procedures.
• Ability to maintain accurate documentation and inventories.
• Good physical condition and ability to work in Arctic outdoor conditions as needed.
Assets:
• Experience working in a northern or remote environment.
• Experience with municipal operations, government organizations, or public administration.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• Ability to communicate in Inuktitut, English, or French.

• Full-time position on Salary
• Work may include hands-on mechanical tasks, supervision, and administrative duties.
• Salary and benefits in accordance with Northern Village employment policies.
Salary: Salary based on experience and salary scale
Benefits: Group Insurance, Group Pension Plan, Northern Allowance, as per set for the Employees of the NV, Travel
Benefits of $5,000.00 or $3,000.00 plan after 12 months of service.
Probation: 6 months
