National Defense - Canadian Coast Guard – Arctic Search and Rescue
National Defence - Canadian Coast Guard – Maritime Search and Rescue (SAR) Arctic Region - is looking for a
Northern Indigenous summer student to join the Arctic Risk-Based Analysis of Maritime Search and Rescue Delivery
(RAMSARD) initiative for the summer of 2026.
The Arctic SAR program supports the safety and resilience of northern communities by advancing research, analysis,
and operational planning under the RAMSARD initiative. Our multidisciplinary team works collaboratively across the
Arctic Region to enhance marine preparedness, strengthen situational awareness, and support evidence-based
decision-making.
Selected student will contribute directly to this mandate through project work aligned with their skills whether developing
GIS mapping products, supporting statistical analysis, contributing to research and report writing, or assisting with
engagement planning and logistics. Students work remotely as part of an experienced team and gain hands-on exposure
to Arctic marine operations, northern community priorities, and federal program delivery in the North.
Important Information:
• Competitive salary with possibility of Northern Allowances
• Proof of enrollment for Fall 2026 semester will be required
• Reliable internet access is required for remote work, with a potential to travel
• Strong communication skills and dependability are essential for collaborating with the team and participating in
discussions
