The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), incorporated under the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (section 15) as well as the Act respecting health services and social services, covers the entire territory located north of the 55th parallel. Its mission is to adapt health and social services programs to the population’s needs and the region’s realities and to ensure efficient organization of the resources made available to the Nunavik region.

DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Infectious Diseases Coordinator and as a member of the Nunavik Public Health Department team, the Tuberculosis Advisor will contribute to the implementation of the regional action plan aimed at eliminating tuberculosis in Nunavik.
More specifically, the advisor will work in close collaboration with health centre staff to conduct epidemiological investigations related to tuberculosis. The advisor will be responsible for analyzing investigation data and formulating appropriate recommendations.
The advisor will also contribute to various activities outlined in the regional tuberculosis elimination plan, such as awareness campaigns, training initiatives, and community engagement activities.
The role involves traveling to different communities across Nunavik in order to support clinical staff as well as activities related to communication and tuberculosis screening.
Finally, depending on the evolution of the epidemiological situation and the needs identified within the infectious diseases team, the advisor may also be called upon to contribute to other areas such as sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections, notifiable diseases, respiratory infection surveillance, infection prevention and control, vaccine-preventable diseases, overdose prevention, or other public health issues.
Your responsibilities also include to:
• Acting as a tuberculosis expert advisor to support clinicians;
• Issuing public health recommendations and interventions to relevant partners during outbreaks or infectious threats related to tuberculosis;
• Developing and facilitating prevention activities;
• Providing training to TB response teams;
• Supporting local public health activities and initiatives for TB prevention and protection;
• Develop regional tuberculosis guidelines, tools, and protocols;
• Participate in TB research activities;
• Develop screening algorithms and other outbreak management tools.
REQUIREMENTS
• Must hold a bachelor's degree in nursing and be a member of the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (Quebec Order of Nurses);
• For candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, a combination of relevant experience and education may be considered;
• Experience with tuberculosis in Nunavik or another remote region is a major asset;
• Experience in public health is a major asset;
• Bilingualism (oral and written) in French and English; Inuktitut is an asset;
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and within a multidisciplinary team;
• Excellent communication skills and positive leadership;
• Experience in training and facilitation is an asset;
• Professional autonomy and clinical judgment;
• Ability to adapt, analyze, and synthesize;
• Ability to plan and organize.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• Please note that interviews will potentially be conducted during the week of September 22, 2025;
• Home base: Assignment primarily based in the North (Kuujjuaq). Relocation to the North is preferred, however, teleworking from the South is possible depending on operational needs. Travel to various communities in Nunavik equivalent to 6 weeks per year or 3 trips;
• Occasional travel to the office in Quebec City is possible.
Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement shall receive priority.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Temporary full-time assignment (37.5 hours/week) for one year;
• Day shift;
• Salary according to the conditions of the MSSS and the qualifications of the candidate ($30.71 /h to $56.34/h).
