The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), established under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement
(Chapter 15) as well as the Act respecting health services and social services, covers all territory north of the 55th parallel. Its mandate is
to adapt health and social services programs to the needs of the population and the realities of the region, and to ensure the efficient
organization of resources made available to Nunavik.
The Regional Board is seeking to fill the following temporary assignment:

DESCRIPTION
Under the authority of the Coordinator of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control, the Nursing Advisor
contributes to the implementation of the regional public health action plan for the prevention and control of
sexually and blood-borne infections (STBBIs), as well as overdoses related to opioids and other toxic psychoactive
substances. The incumbent will be primarily involved in STBBI-related activities while also participating in
overdose-related initiatives.
More specifically, your responsibilities include:
• Contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the regional public health action plan
for the prevention and control of STBBIs, as well as overdoses related to opioids and other toxic psychoactive
substances;
• Conducting epidemiological investigations related to syphilis cases, in close collaboration with health centre
staff;
• Participating in the development, updating, and implementation of regional tools, strategies, and approaches
for STBBI prevention;
• Contributing to regional STBBI prevention activities, including the implementation of related strategies and
interventions;
• Acting as a key resource and providing expert advice on STBBIs to health centre staff, regional partners, and
members of the public health team;
• Contributing to the development, coordination, and dissemination of awareness and communication
campaigns related to STBBIs and overdoses;
• Ensuring the coordination and management of regional projects related to STBBI prevention;
• Assessing overdose reports and coordinating protective interventions following suspected events related to
opioids and other toxic psychoactive substances.
REQUIREMENTS
• For candidates who are beneficiaries under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, a combination
of relevant education and experience may be considered;
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and membership in the OIIQ (mandatory requirement); a Master’s degree or
graduate studies in public health is an asset;
• Significant experience in STBBI prevention and control, with excellent knowledge of STBBIs, particularly
syphilis (asset);
• Experience in overdose response and public health (epidemiological investigation, program development), an
asset;
• Proven experience in project management, with demonstrated ability to oversee projects from planning
through to rigorous follow-up (major asset);
• Commitment to health equity, reconciliation, and the application of Joyce’s Principle, with demonstrated
cultural safety awareness and humility in adapting interactions to the realities of Nunavimmiut;
• Professional autonomy, rigour, mobilizing leadership, and excellent communication skills in a multicultural
and multidisciplinary environment;
• Understanding of the sociocultural context of Nunavik and Inuit culture, an asset;
• Experience living or working in Nunavik, as well as good knowledge of the region, is a strong asset;
• Proficiency in at least two of the three languages of Nunavik (French, English, Inuktitut) and strong command
of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and project management
platforms.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• Please note that interviews are expected to take place during the week of June 29, 2026;
• Work location: Position based in the North (Kuujjuaq) is preferred; however, remote work from the South
with occasional travel may be possible depending on operational needs.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Three (3)-year full-time temporary assignment, 37.5 hours per week;
• Day shift;
• Salary according to MSSS conditions and the candidate’s qualifications ($31.48/hour to $57.75/hour).
Northern Benefits: Employees who settle in Nunavik may be eligible for various premiums, including retention,
isolation, and cost-of-living allowances. For individuals hired more than 50 km from Kuujjuaq, low-cost housing
is provided, along with reimbursement of moving and storage expenses. In addition, annual personal trips from
Kuujjuaq to the point of hire are included, along with other benefits.
