The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), established pursuant to the James Bay and Northern Québec 

Agreement (Chapter 15) and the Act respecting health services and social services, covers the entire territory located north of the 55th 

parallel. Its mission is to adapt health and social services programs to the needs of the population and the realities of the region, and to 

ensure the efficient organization of resources made available to the Nunavik region. 

The Regional Board wishes to fill the following temporary assignment:

DEPARTMENT AND SERVICE: PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT, #40003 – OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH 

DESCRIPTION 

Under the authority of the Environmental Health and Occupational Health Coordinator (OH), you will plan 

occupational health activities, participate in the development of internal work procedures, occupational health 

and safety tools, working or promotional documents, as well as projects and activities related to occupational 

health, with the objective of preventing occupational diseases and promoting, improving, and protecting the 

health of workers in various work environments. You will act as a resource person and work closely with other 

members of the Occupational Health (OH) team.  

In addition, as part of your duties, you will be responsible for cross-functional files in collaboration with the 

Infectious Diseases (ID) team, in order to ensure the integration of occupational health considerations related to 

infectious biological risks in workplaces across the Nunavik territory. You will act as a liaison between the 

Occupational Health team and the Infectious Diseases team to promote coherent, complementary, and 

harmonized interventions, while respecting each team’s respective areas of responsibility. 

Your responsibilities also include: 

• Collaborating with workplace stakeholders—employers, workers, unions, and health and safety 

committees—and supporting them in preventing occupational injuries in compliance with applicable laws 

and regulations; 

• Planning and conducting meetings and/or responding to requests for support related to the characterization 

and management of occupational risks for various contaminants and constraints (chemical, physical, 

biological, ergonomic, and psychosocial, as well as safety and sanitation risks), in order to prevent impacts 

on workers’ health and safety, and providing information on compliance with the organization of first aid, 

emergency care, and prevention and participation mechanisms; 

• Collaborating in the preparation of medico-environmental reports for the Safe Maternity Experience 

Program (PMSD), in accordance with procedures established by the Occupational Health team and the 

Occupational Health Public Health Network (RSPSAT); 

• Working with the physician responsible for Occupational Health and carrying out reports of hazards related 

to health, safety, and sanitation conditions requiring preventive measures, as well as reports of threats to 

population health; 

• Collaborating in epidemiological investigations following reports of notifiable diseases and chemical hazards 

(chemical NDs) or reports of an anticipated threat to occupational health; 

• Collaborating with other regional public health teams, particularly with respect to the management of 

airborne biological risks (e.g., tuberculosis, COVID-19, mould), in relation to indoor air quality (IAQ); 

• Mobilizing partners (CNESST, ASP, Santé Québec, etc.) in collaboration with the physician responsible for 

Occupational Health; 

• Participating in accountability processes with the CNESST and in annual planning activities, as well as entering 

interventions into the Occupational Health Information System (SISAT). 

Infectious Diseases Component – Workplace Approach 

• Facilitate and support the management of files shared by both teams and ensure the coherence of 

interventions aimed at preventing infectious diseases in workplaces and protecting workers’ health; 

• Collaborate with the Infectious Diseases team in interpreting and applying workplace-related obligations; 

• Collaborate in harmonizing Occupational Health–Infectious Diseases prevention communications for 

workplaces; 

• Facilitate contacts between the Infectious Diseases team and workplaces in support of epidemiological 

investigations and the reporting of infectious health threats; 

• Support risk management analysis related to infectious diseases in workplace settings and issue appropriate 

recommendations. 

REQUIREMENTS 

• For candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement, a combination of 

relevant education and experience may be considered; 

• Must hold a bachelor’s degree in nursing and be a member of the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du 

Québec; 

• Three (3) years of experience within the Occupational Health Public Health Network (RSPSAT); 

• Experience as an Occupational Health Nursing Advisor or as an Assistant to the Immediate Supervisor in 

Occupational Health will be considered a major asset; 

• Knowledge of epidemiological investigation processes in the context of notifiable diseases or intoxications 

(NDs) in the workplace; 

• Knowledge of frameworks for interpreting reports of threats to population health and reports of workplace 

hazards; 

• Strong knowledge of infectious disease protocols and guidelines related to infectious bioaerosols 

(tuberculosis, measles, etc.), as well as the public health risk management reference framework. 

PROFILE SOUGHT 

• Ability to communicate fluently in French and English, both orally and in writing; 

• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and within a multidisciplinary team; 

• Excellent communication skills and positive leadership; 

• Experience in training and facilitation; 

• Strong adaptability, analytical, and synthesis skills; 

• Ability to manage complex and cross-functional files; 

• Strong planning and organizational skills. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

• Please note that interviews may be conducted during the week of April 6, 2026; 

• Work location: Telework assignment. Travel to Northern communities may be required depending on service 

activities. 

Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement will be given priority. 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

• Status: Full-time temporary position for a duration of two (2) years, with the possibility of extension; 

• Day shift; 

• Salary according to MSSS conditions and the qualifications of the selected candidate ($30.71/hour to 

$56.34/hour).
