Tasiurvik Childcare Centre

Full-time Pedagogical Councillor

Duties

Under the authority of the board of Directors and on collaboration with the Director of the Childcare centre, The Pedagogical Councillor exercises all assigned duties related to planning, organizing supervising and control of the centre’s programs and resources.

Tasks

-Provides experiences and play materials that actively promote the Inuit culture.

-Sees that a daily balance of activities is scheduled

-Assists in the organization of space, equipment and materials for activities with the childcare

Educators

-Present to the children’s educators to plan and carry out and review individual program plans

-Initiates referrals and additional services for parents and children

-provides to the children educators positives such as re-directing, positive language and positive reinforcement

-Ensures that the Child’s environment is heathy and safe

-Plans regular caregiver’s meeting

-Plans and caries out annual plans for staff development

-Carry out all others tasks related to the related to the quality of the pedagogical environment and the establishment and reinforcement of positive team environment.

- Others tasks may be assigned, as a board of directors deems necessary for the efficient functioning of the Tasiurvik and Natturaq Childcare Centres

The Selected Candidate must:

- Be 18 years of age o older

- Be in good physical and mental health

- Be able to present during all opening hours to provide care to the children received

- Have a secondary 5 Diploma although exceptional and relevant work experience will be considered

- Holds a diploma or certificate in early childhood education and /or attends courses in early Childhood education

- Have a previous experience in working with children as an educator

- Having certificate in first Aid course is an asset;

- Must be willing to take part in training sessions and attend staff meetings;

- Be bilingual: Inuttitut/English/French (Knowledge of Inuttitut is a must to be able to work with native children/families):

Work Place: Natturaq Childcare Centre in Inukuak Quebec

Salary: Salary is to be determined according to experience and training
