The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), established under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement
(Chapter 15) and the Act respecting health services and social services, covers all territory north of the 55th parallel. Its mission is to adapt
health and social services programs to the needs of the population and regional realities, and to ensure the effective organization of
resources made available to the Nunavik region.

DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Prevention and Health Promotion Coordinator, the Planning and Programming
Officer plays a central role in supporting Nunavik communities. He or she contributes to the development and
implementation of community mobilization strategies, supports wellness committees and liaison workers in their
activities, and provides ongoing operational support, including funding monitoring, budgeting, and report
writing. The incumbent works closely with NRBHSS teams and community partners to ensure that public health
initiatives are rooted in Inuit realities and values.
Your responsibilities also include:
• Participating in the integration of the Inuit health model (IQI) within community organizations and health
centres;
• Supporting liaison workers and wellness committees in their work;
• Defining, developing, and delivering training based on the needs expressed by wellness committees and
liaison workers;
• Contributing to the follow-up of the regional action plan supporting communities.
REQUIREMENTS
• For candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, a combination of
relevant education and experience may be considered;
• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field such as administrative sciences, humanities, or social sciences;
• A master’s degree in public health or a related field is considered an asset;
• Experience in community mobilization and/or supporting community organizations, ideally in an intercultural
or Indigenous context;
• Good understanding of the sociocultural context of Nunavik and Inuit culture (an asset);
• Demonstrated cultural safety awareness, with the ability to adapt interactions to the realities of
Nunavimmiut;
• Ability to support partners in managing funding: budget monitoring, report writing, and funding applications;
• Ability to manage multiple files independently, with strong organizational and time-management skills;
• Ability to work with diverse partners in various contexts, with a collaborative and intercultural approach;
• Proficiency in at least two of the three languages used in Nunavik (French, English, Inuktitut) and good
knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• Work location: Position based in the North (Kuujjuaq);
• The position is open to candidates from other Nunavik communities, with the possibility of relocation to
Kuujjuaq;
• Please note that interviews are expected to take place during the weeks of June 15 and June 22, 2026.
Beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement will be given priority.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Permanent full-time position (35 hours per week);
• Day shift;
• Salary according to MSSS conditions and the candidate’s qualifications ($31.03/hour to $54.98/hour).
Northern benefits: Employees who settle in Nunavik may benefit from various allowances, including retention,
isolation, and cost-of-living allowances. For individuals hired more than 50 km from Kuujjuaq, low-cost housing
is provided, along with reimbursement of moving and storage expenses. In addition, annual personal travel
between Kuujjuaq and the point of hire is included, along with other benefits.
