Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), established under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement
(Chapter 15) and the Act Respecting Health Services and Social Services, serves the entire territory north of the 55th parallel. Its mission is
to adapt health and social services programs to the needs of the population and the realities of the region, while ensuring the effective
organization of the resources available to Nunavik.
The Regional Board wishes to fill the following temporary assignment:

DEPARTMENT AND SERVICE: PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT – SERVICE #40004-ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Occupational Health and Environmental Health, the Planning,
Programming and Research Officer (PPRO) plays a key role in the development and implementation of
environmental health initiatives. You will contribute to maintaining regional expertise in the areas of
environmental health surveillance, prevention, promotion, and protection.
Working in collaboration with numerous partners, you will participate in identifying environmental issues that
impact the health of Nunavimmiut and contribute to developing solutions adapted to the northern context. You
will also represent the Public Health Department on various committees and build collaborative relationships
with stakeholders from the health network as well as from the municipal, education, housing, and community
development sectors.

living environments for Nunavik communities.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Coordinating environmental health initiatives, particularly those related to indoor air quality and bedbug control;
• Participating in investigations, risk assessments, interventions, and data entry related to mandatory reportable diseases of chemical origin (MADO-C) and environmental health reports occurring in the region;
• Participating in environmental health team projects, including those related to drinking water, contaminants (lead, mercury, cadmium, PFAS, etc.), and outdoor air quality;
• Developing and implementing strategies, tools, and awareness activities adapted to the realities of Nunavik.
REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field of study such as administration, human sciences, or social sciences;
• For candidates who are beneficiaries under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered;
• Experience in the field of environmental health;
• Experience in Nunavik and knowledge of Inuit culture, or experience working in an intercultural or Indigenous context, will be considered assets.

• Strong partnership-building and stakeholder engagement abilities;
• Excellent written and spoken proficiency in two of the three languages used in Nunavik (French, English, and Inuktitut);
• Autonomy, initiative, and a strong sense of responsibility;
• Sensitivity to northern, intercultural, and community realities.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• Please note that interviews may be conducted during the week of August 10, 2026;
• Work location: Remote work with occasional travel to Nunavik communities.
Candidates who are beneficiaries under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement will be given priority.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Full-time temporary assignment, 35 hours per week, from August 23, 2026, to August 20, 2027;
• Day shift, Monday to Friday schedule;
• Salary according to MSSS conditions and the candidate's qualifications ($31.03/hour to $54.98/hour).
Northern Benefits: Employees who relocate to Nunavik may be eligible for various premiums, including an
attraction and retention bonus, an isolation allowance, and a food transportation allowance. For individuals hired
from more than 50 km outside Kuujjuaq, low-cost housing is provided, along with reimbursement of moving and
storage expenses. In addition, annual personal trips between Kuujjuaq and the point of hire are included, along
with other benefits.
