The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), established under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement

(Chapter 15) and the Act Respecting Health Services and Social Services, covers the entire territory north of the 55th parallel. Its mission is

to adapt health and social service programs to the needs of the population and the realities of the region, while ensuring the effective

organization of the resources available to the Nunavik region.

The Regional Board is seeking to fill the following permanent position:

Planning, Programming and Research Officer - Mental Health Posting 2026-063

DEPARTMENT AND SERVICE: PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT – SERVICE #41006 – MENTAL HEALTH SUICHOM

DESCRIPTION

Under the supervision of the Psychosocial Affairs Coordinator, you will play a key role in the coordination,

development, and monitoring of regional mental health initiatives. You will participate in the planning,

improvement, and follow-up of services provided to communities.

You will work closely with health centres, regional partners, and various stakeholders to support the

development of services adapted to the cultural, social, and community realities of Nunavik. You will also

contribute to the work of various regional committees aimed at promoting the well-being and mental health of

Nunavimmiut.

Your responsibilities will also include:

• Coordinating regional mental health initiatives and monitoring action plans;

• Supporting the development and improvement of mental health services in Nunavik;

• Collaborating with health centres, regional partners, and consultation committees;

• Participating in the development of resources, training programs, and service pathways;

• Contributing to mental health promotion and suicide prevention initiatives;

• Monitoring best practices and making recommendations.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field such as administration, human sciences, or social sciences;

• Knowledge of the health and social services network, as well as experience in mental health, will be

considered assets.

For candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, a relevant

combination of education and experience may be considered.

• Excellent analytical, planning, and coordination abilities;

• Autonomy, initiative, and a strong sense of responsibility;

• Strong facilitation, communication, and mobilization skills;

• Ability to work with stakeholders from various backgrounds;

• Sensitivity to northern, intercultural, and community realities;

• Proficiency in at least two (2) of the three (3) languages used in Nunavik, both written and spoken

(French, English, Inuktitut).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Please note that interviews may take place during the week of August 10, 2026;

• Work location: Position based in Kuujjuaq or remote, with regular travel to Nunavik.

Beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement will be given priority.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Permanent full-time position (35 hours per week);

• Day shift, Monday to Friday;

• Salary according to MSSS conditions and the candidate’s qualifications ($31.03/hour to $54.98/hour).

Northern Benefits: Employees who relocate to Nunavik may be eligible for various premiums, including a

recruitment and retention premium, an isolation premium, and a food transportation allowance. For individuals

hired from locations more than 50 km from Kuujjuaq, low-cost housing is provided, along with reimbursement

of moving and storage expenses. In addition, annual personal travel benefits between Kuujjuaq and the point of

hire are included, as well as other benefits.
