Planning, Programming, and Research Officer - NRBHSS
The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), established under the James Bay and Northern Quebec
Agreement (Chapter 15) and the Act respecting health services and social services, covers the entire territory north of the 55th
parallel. Its mission is to adapt health and social services programs to the needs of the population and the realities of the region,
and to ensure the efficient organization of resources available to the Nunavik region.
The NRBHSS is seeking to fill the following temporary assignment:

DEPARTMENT AND SERVICE:
PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT, #40005 – CHILD HEALTH PREVENTION AND PROMOTION
DESCRIPTION
Under the authority of the Director of Public Health and under the supervision of the Prevention and
Health Promotion Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for projects such as community
outreach, overdose prevention, and men's health.
The incumbent will work with various partners, including other departments within the Nunavik Regional
Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), health centres, municipalities, men's groups, and regional
organizations, to support various initiatives.
Your responsibilities also include:
• Supporting initiatives related to the Men's Health Action Plan, including the organization and hosting
of the Nunavik Men's Meeting in the fall of 2026;
• Collaborating in the development of a community outreach worker program;
• Developing an overdose prevention awareness campaign;
• Developing overdose prevention workshops for the school mental health curriculum;
• Supporting the implementation of the substance use prevention action plan.
REQUIREMENTS
• For candidates eligible under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, a combination of
relevant experience and training may be considered;
• Must hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant university discipline such as business administration,
humanities, or social sciences;
• Experience in public health and/or mental health and/or social work and/or working with vulnerable
populations;
• Good understanding of harm reduction principles and/or street/community outreach work;
• Experience working with Nunavimmiut is considered an asset;
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in two of the three languages spoken in the region
(Inuktitut, English, French);
• Knowledge of Inuktitut will be considered an asset;
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• Please note that interviews will potentially be conducted during the weeks of June 22 and June 29,
2026;
• Home base: Relocation to the North (Kuujjuaq) is preferred; however, remote work from the South
with regular travel is possible depending on operational needs;
• The position is open to applications from other Nunavik communities, with the opportunity to
relocate to Kuujjuaq or work remotely from their home community.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Temporary full-time assignment until March 31, 2027, with the possibility of renewal;
• Day shift;
• Salary according to MSSS (Ministry of Health and Social Services) regulations and the candidate's
qualifications ($31.03/hour to $54.98/hour).
Northern Benefits: Employees who relocate to Nunavik are eligible for various bonuses, including a
retention bonus, a remoteness bonus, and a food transportation allowance. For those hired more than
50 km away from Kuujjuaq, low-cost housing is provided, along with reimbursement of moving and
storage expenses. In addition, annual personal trips between Kuujjuaq and the point of employment are
included, as well as other benefits.
