The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), established under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement

(Section 15) as well as the Act Respecting Health Services and Social Services, covers the entire territory north of the 55th parallel.

Its mission is to adapt health and social services programs to the needs of the population and the realities of the region, and to ensure the

efficient organization of resources made available to Nunavik.

The Regional Board is seeking to fill the following temporary assignment:

DIRECTORATE AND SERVICE: Planning and Programming Directorate – Service No. 41005 Medical Affairs & Physical Health

DESCRIPTION

As part of this temporary assignment, the incumbent will report to the Coordinator of Medical Affairs. The person

in this role serves as an operational lead for oncology services and the development of new screening pathways,

and supports initiatives aimed at improving care pathways. In collaboration with partners in both the North and

the South, they ensure service continuity, operational coordination, and process oversight to support the

delivery of oncology services, as well as the implementation and optimization of screening pathways.

The mandate is divided into two main components, each representing approximately 50% of the role: oncology

and screening, and care pathways.

1. Oncology and Screening Component (50% of the role)

o Represent the region with various regional and provincial bodies,

o Ensure regional coordination leading to the development and adoption of the regional oncology action

plan, in accordance with the guidelines of the provincial oncology committee,

o Monitor the implementation of the action plan,

o Ensure ad hoc ministerial reporting in oncology, as well as monthly reporting in digestive endoscopy,

o Assess and document current and future needs of Nunavik users requiring cancer treatment,

o Contribute to discussions on the service offer required to meet identified needs,

o Identify opportunities for improvement in oncology services and care pathways,

o Mobilize stakeholders to implement continuous improvement initiatives.

2. Care Pathways Component (50% of the role)

o Design, update, and implement care pathways adapted to Nunavik,

o Ensure that pathways reflect the distinct practice models of both coasts, including differentiated risk

management approaches,

o Support the harmonization of clinical practices,

o Facilitate and coordinate service corridors outside Nunavik for users requiring specialized care (referrals, communication, continuity of care),


o Provide clinical support, ensure training and maintenance of competencies, and promote the quality and safety of liaison teams,

o Collaborate in the development, adaptation, and revision of procedures, clinical protocols, and practice tools,

o Promote safe practices that take into account isolation, medical evacuations, and the lack of proximity to tertiary care centres.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as administration, humanities, or social sciences;

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing is considered an asset;

• Experience in the health and social services network, particularly in oncology, screening, or care pathways, is considered an asset;

• For beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered;

• Strong understanding of clinical, organizational, and inter-regional issues;

• Strong administrative rigor in managing information, documentation, follow-ups, and operational processes;

• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to mobilize and work collaboratively with Northern and Southern partners;

• Ability to act as a reliable, available, proactive, and flexible resource person;

• Skills in facilitation, coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration;

• Patient-centred approach and ability to act with diplomacy and neutrality in an interorganizational context;

• Demonstrated cultural safety and humility, with the ability to adapt interactions to Nunavimmiut realities;

• Ability to manage complex situations and navigate ambiguity;

• Effective communication skills adapted to strategic issues and complex contexts;

• Strong organizational, planning, and priority management skills;

• Proficiency in reading and writing in two of the three languages used in Nunavik (Inuktitut, English, or French);

• Understanding of the sociocultural context of Nunavik and Inuit culture (an asset).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Please note that interviews may be conducted during the weeks of June 1 and June 8, 2026;

• Work location: Remote position. Travel to the North may be required depending on service activities.

Beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement will be given priority.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Status: Full-time temporary assignment for one year, with the possibility of extension;

• Work schedule: 35 hours/week;

• Shift: Day;

• Salary according to MSSS conditions and candidate qualifications ($31.03/h to $54.98/h).

isolation, and cost-of-living premiums. For those hired more than 50 km from Kuujjuaq, low-cost housing is

provided, along with reimbursement of moving and storage expenses. In addition, annual personal trips between

Kuujjuaq and the point of hire are included, along with other benefits.
