The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), established under the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (Section 15) and the Act Respecting Health Services and Social Services, covers the entire territory located north of the 55th parallel. Its mission is to adapt health and social services programs to the needs of the population and to the realities of the region, and to ensure the efficient organization of resources made available to the Nunavik region.

The Regional Board is seeking to fill the following full-time temporary assignment:

DIRECTORATE AND SERVICE: PUBLIC HEALTH DIRECTORATE, #40005 – CHILD HEALTH PREVENTION AND PROMOTION

DESCRIPTION

Under the authority of the Director of Public Health and the supervision of the Prevention and Health Promotion Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for projects such as outreach work, overdose prevention, and men’s well-being.

The incumbent will work closely with various partners, including other NRBHSS departments, health centres, municipalities, men’s groups, and regional organizations, to support different initiatives.

Your responsibilities include:

• Supporting initiatives related to the Men’s Well-Being Action Plan, including the organization and delivery of the Nunavik Men’s Gathering in fall 2026;

• Collaborating in the development of an outreach worker program;

• Developing an overdose prevention awareness campaign;

• Developing overdose prevention workshops for the school-based mental health program;

• Supporting the implementation of the substance use prevention action plan.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate university discipline such as administration, human sciences, or social sciences;

• For candidates benefiting from the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, a relevant

combination of education and experience may be considered;

• Strong knowledge of harm reduction or street outreach approaches;

• Experience in public health, mental health, or a related field;

• Experience working with Nunavimmiut is considered an asset;

• Proficiency in French and English;

• Knowledge of Inuktitut is considered an asset;

• Familiarity with Microsoft 365 (Office) Suite.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Please note that interviews may be conducted during the week of April 27, 2026;

• Work location: Kuujjuaq or remote work, provided the candidate has excellent knowledge of Inuit culture and northern realities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Full-time temporary assignment until March 31, 2027;

Day shift;

• Salary according to MSSS conditions and the selected candidate’s qualifications

($31.03/hour to $54.98/hour).

Northern benefits: Employees who settle in Nunavik may be eligible for various premiums, including retention, isolation, and food transportation allowances. For those hired more than 50 km from Kuujjuaq, low-cost housing is provided, along with reimbursement of moving and storage expenses. Annual personal travel from Kuujjuaq to the hiring point is also included, along with other benefits.
