As a psychosocial worker, you will follow a hybrid schedule alternating between 2 weeks of remote work and 2 weeks in Nunavik communities each month. Your role will be to build trusting, safe relationships with team members and provide psychosocial support grounded in Inuit culture. You will guide and support worker-members in their personal development and daily challenges, while fostering a sense of belonging and team cohesion through activities, workshops, and an engaged presence. You will also promote well-being and contribute to the quality of life of workers through the Wellness Program.

This is a multifaceted role where sound judgment and autonomy are highly valued, and where the needs and aspirations of members are at the forefront, particularly in fostering connections to Inuit culture and the land. As a role model for members, you will demonstrate exemplary conduct in areas such as substance use, workplace attendance, and respectful, compassionate interactions with all team members. A proactive and innovative mindset is encouraged to support the development of new ideas, partnerships, and opportunities for Ikajurtigiit.

Direct Support

  • Build trust and a supportive relationship with members
  • Provide a supportive presence and attentive listening (acting as a big brother or sister)
  • Provide individual follow-ups with team members using a holistic approach
  • Support members in navigating processes: legal, health, and administrative
  • Offer formal and informal psychosocial support to the team
  • Conduct active observation and on-site intervention
  • Handle challenging situations and crisis intervention
  • Support and refer members to appropriate help services

Program Development and Coordination

  • Assist the coordinator in developing a vision, strategies, and actions that meet members’ needs
  • Contribute to improving the Wellness Program based on field observations
  • Collaborate on the development of intervention protocols and project tracking tools
  • Build relationships with key partners, including physical and mental health staff
  • Draft and contribute to documentation that structures the Wellness Program
  • Contribute to writing accountability reports
  • Implement and progressively evaluate guidelines that support team growth
