Public Security Officer - NV of Inukjuak

The municipality of Inukjuak is a municipal body with jurisdiction over the community of Inukjuak located on the east coast of Hudson Bay, in the Nunavik region of Quebec. Public Security Officer

Full-time

Location: Inukjuak, Quebec        

Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. - Monday to Friday  

Position: Public Security Officer

Under the direction of the Municipal Manager, the Public Security Officer is responsible for all public security matters and has the following duties:

Responsibilities

• Be in charge of all public security;

• Plan, prepare and implement working schedule of all emergency departments;

• Working with Fire Department, Nursing Station, Police, Night Watch Personnel and Hunter Support Program;

• Close collaboration with the Mayor, Municipal Manager;

• Enforce public education, awareness and prevention (FM radio, school, etc.);

• Plan and implement public safety training for local organizations;

• Keep track and manage all hazardous waste in the community;

• Develop and ensure good working relationship with KRG civil security search and rescue coordinator, Fire Department, Nursing Station, Police, Night Watch staff, the Hunter Support Program and the emergency response team and the CCGA CA unit leaders;

• Assist in management of waste water and drinking water safety education;

• Implement safety in different hunting seasons;

• Implement public safety boating, water activities and safety in different hunting seasons;

• Report regularly on weather conditions and visit various sites for safety measures;

• Ensure the fire fighters practice weekly and on a monthly basis and that the emergency radios are in good working conditions.

Requirements

• Experience in administrative tasks, on computer and in managing people.

• Knowledge of wide range of safety issues.

• Autonomy, initiative, good ethics and trustworthy.

• Planning, managing and controlling skills.

• Good communication skill (verbal and written).

Salary: Salary based on experience and salary scale

Benefits: Group Insurance, Group Pension Plan, Northern Allowance, as per set for the Employees of the NV, Travel Benefits of $5,000.00 or $3,000.00 plan after 12 months of service.

Probation: 6 months
