SECRETARY-TREASURER
POSTING PERIOD: July 2 to July 15, 2026
START DATE: July 22, 2026
FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Under the authority of the council and the supervisions of the mayor, the Secretary-Treasurer will:
• Be responsible for financial administration of the municipality.
• Prepare annual budget with mayor and council.
• Handle the municipality’s daily financial operations.
• Keep the municipality’s books to accurately reflect its financial statements to the council.
• Prepare and communicate monthly financial statements to the council.
• Ensure that funds are available before authorizing any expenditure.
• Work closely with the auditor in preparing the annual financial statement and vouch for its accuracy.
• Take and countersign minutes of council meetings.
• Provide notices of motion and draft resolutions.
• Record keeping of documents related to all books, registers, plans and other belonging or entrusted to the municipality.
• Work in cooperation with the manager and other municipal administration staff members.
• Perform other related duties as required by the mayor and council.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Computer skills (Microsoft word, Excel, Outlook);
• 5 Years relevant experience in Accounting management;
• Knowledge of Sage50 an asset;
• Excellent analytical, decisions-making and problem-solving skills;
• Secondary diploma or equivalent;
• Speak/write English or French (Inuktitut an asset);
• Be organized, reliable and punctual.
Salary: Salary based on experience and salary scale
Candidates chosen as full time employees are eligible to a Northern Allowance of $5,000 or $3,000, participate in an employee pension plan and Group Insurance plan, participate in a travel benefit plan after 12 months of service.
Probation period six (6) months
