Current eligible employees of the Health and Social Services system can take advantage of an unpaid leave to
work in a Nordic establishment for up to 60 months. English follows french posting.
Fonctions Spécifiques/Specific functions
Collaborate with a wide variety of partners (within the Ungava Tulattavik Health Center, Nunavik Board Health,
Social Services and Wellness Program, across the communities) to create and implement tools and actions to
prevent suicide.
Participate to the coordination and provide Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) workshops in the
communities.
Participate and coordinate annual Puttautiit Conference.
Participate to the permanent suicide prevention steering committee.
Design, apply and follow up an action plan based on the recommendations adopted by the mental health
advisory committee and the steering committee once implemented.
Support the communities in organizing local adapted actions in suicide prevention, intervention and postintervention.
Provide regular regional media up dates on current suicide prevention activities.
Along with other interveners, support communities when there is a crisis.
Participate in the creation and implementation of an annual regional healing conference in Nunavik.
Exigences spécifiques/Specific Requirements

Secondary V diploma along with pertinent work experience;
Be fluent in Inuktitut and/or be a person of Inuit ancestry;
Experience in social intervention, a major asset;
Knowledge of English, spoken and written; knowledge of French would be an asset;
Seen as positive role model; no criminal record, active or in progress;
Display a positive attitude;
Knowledge of Inuit customs, beliefs and traditions;
Knowledge of suicide prevention and intervention;
Methodical, responsible and autonomous;
Available to travel and work in communities when needed;
Must participate in the training offered by the Collège Marie-Victorin and will have to successfully complete the College Certificate Program to access the job title and the salary of Community Worker.
The training is offered in Kuujjuaq and free of charge.
