The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), incorporated under the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement 

(section 15) as well as the Act respecting health services and social services, covers the entire territory located north of the 55th parallel. 

Its mission is to adapt health and social services programs to the population’s needs and the region’s realities and to ensure efficient 

organization of the resources made available to the Nunavik region. 

The regional board seeks to fill the following two (2) temporary assignments:

DEPARTMENT AND SERVICE: DIRECTION NUNAVINGMI ILAGIIT PAPATAUVINGA, # 43001 - NIP 

Nunavingmi Ilagiit Papatauvinga (NIP) is a new Inuit-led organization created to develop and deliver services for Inuit 

children, youth and families throughout Nunavik. While NIP currently operates under the umbrella of the Nunavik 

Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), it will soon become an independent Inuit organization. 

As part of its development, NIP is creating community-based services rooted in Inuit knowledge, language, culture and 

values. Through the Pigiarviliutik project, NIP is developing its first integrated community service delivery model in 

Inukjuak while expanding key services to other Nunavik communities. 

ABOUT ANGAJURQARIJAUJUNIK IKAJURTI (FAMILY GUIDANCE SERVICE) 

No family should have to face the child and family services system alone. The Family Guidance Service helps Inuit 

families understand the child and family services process, prepare for important decisions, and connect with the 

supports they need. Whether families are involved with the current youth protection system or future Inuit-led 

services, the Family Guidance Service helps ensure they understand the process, know their rights and 

responsibilities, and have the information they need to make informed decisions. 

The service is built on respect, trust and collaboration, helping families participate meaningfully in decisions that 

affect their children. 

DESCRIPTION 

As a Parent and Family Guide, you will walk alongside families during some of the most important and challenging 

moments in their lives. You will help families understand what is happening, prepare for meetings, explain processes 

in plain language, answer questions, and connect them with legal, cultural and community supports when needed. 

You will work collaboratively with families, NIP staff, youth protection workers, lawyers and community partners 

while always keeping the well-being of children and families at the centre of your work. 

Your responsibilities also include: 

• Build trusting relationships with children, parents and families;  

• Help families understand child and family services processes and decisions;  

• Explain families' rights and responsibilities in clear, accessible language;  

• Prepare families for meetings, conferences and decision-making processes;  

• Support families in expressing their views and participating in decisions affecting their children;  

• Attend meetings with families when appropriate;  

• Connect families with legal, cultural and community resources;  

• Work collaboratively with NIP staff, youth protection workers, lawyers and community partners;  

• Maintain accurate and confidential records;  

• Participate in urgent interventions when required. 

REQUIREMENTS 

• Be a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement; 

• Have strong communication skills in Inuktitut, with the ability to communicate in English and/or French; 

• Enjoy supporting children and families; 

• Have strong knowledge of Inuit culture, language and community life; 

• Communicate clearly and respectfully; 

• Build trusting relationships with people from all walks of life; 

• Remain calm in emotionally challenging situations; 

• Be organized, dependable and willing to learn. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 

• Work location: Inukjuak. Travel may be required depending on service activities; 

• Please note that interviews will potentially be conducted during the week of September 7 or 

September 14, 2026; 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

• Full-time temporary assignment, 35 hours/week; 

• Day shift; 

• Salary according to MSSS conditions and the candidate’s qualifications ($28.40/hr to $40.88/hr). 

Northern benefits: Employees who settle in Nunavik may be eligible for various premiums, including a retention 

premium, a remoteness premium and a cost-of-living premium. For those hired more than 50 km from Kuujjuaq, 

low-cost housing is provided, along with reimbursement of moving and storage costs. In addition, annual personal 

trips from Kuujjuaq to the point of hire are included, as well as other benefits.
