Sociovocational Integration (SVI):
The Sociovocational Integration (SVI) program allows students to acquire the skills and support while transitioning from a school context to a job training. This instructional service is a response to the need to diversify the training offered to adults who wish to enter the labour market, remain employed or pursue an education.
It enables adults to create a career plan, development sociovocational skills, acquire professional competencies, and learn to plan and organize their job search. It offers adults the opportunity to adopt a process to update or develop skills to face the challenges associated with new workplace realities.
The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the afore-mentioned qualification requirements if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board
Objectives:
• To teach vocational skills and work preparation skills to students with various levels of job experience, and who have mild intellectual disabilities and/or learning disabilities.
• To guide students through the development of an individualized employment plan and to assist them in achieving their employment goals.
• To encourage self –determination and to provide students with the environment to optimize their success.
• To provide students with the skills and qualifications needed meet local employment needs
The SVI teacher will be instructing competency-based courses in the areas of: Career decision making, Employment Integration & Maintenance, Skills & Qualifications, and conducting a job search.
Suggested Teacher Qualifications:
• Experience with differentiated learning and Special Education.
CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:
Salary & benefits as per the Teachers Collective Agreement of the Board: from $46,527 to $92,027 annually depending on experience and qualifications. All benefits are prorated based on the percentage of the task.
