ABOUT SIRIVIK
Sirivik is a community food centre in Inukjuak, Nunavik. Sirivik’s mission is to contribute to food sovereignty in Nunavik through education, community building and skill development. Sirivik’s programming includes Ulluriat, an on-the-land program; our food programs, including Drop-In, Emergency Food Support, and Community Meals; and our Agriculture program.
JOB OFFER
Sirivik is looking for a reliable, motivated and respectful person to join our team as a Ulluriat Coordinator.
The Ulluriat Coordinator works under the supervision of the Apprentice-Manager and leads the Ulluriat program. The coordinator will be responsible for planning and facilitating on-the-land outing and traditional food skills workshops. The Ulluriat Coordinator will also oversee providing country food to Sirivik for its other programs.
Main Tasks
- Organize, lead and guide on-the-land outings and traditional food skills workshop with participants (ex. Hunting, fishing, butchering, Bannock making, etc.)
- Collaborate with local partners, mentors and participants to run activities
- Organize and participate in hunting, fishing and harvesting outings
- Butcher, clean, package, store, and distribute harvested country food
- Organize and maintain equipment, including vehicles to ensure all tools, equipment and vehicles are in good working conditions.
Qualifications
- We are looking for someone who is:
- Reliable and punctual
- Organized and motivated
- Experienced on-the-land
- Experienced in hunting, fishing, and harvesting
- Capable of leading activities
- Minimum age: 18 years old
- Must have a valid firearm license
Salary and conditions
Starting at 29.25$/hour
Full time (35hrs/week) – Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
