JOB OPPORTUNITY

The Kativik Regional Government (KRG), a supra municipal body with jurisdiction over the territory located north of the 55th parallel. The department of Communications is looking for a self-motivated and dynamic individual interested in joining the KRG to work in the capacity of:

WEBMASTER

(PERMANENT, FULL-TIME)

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, possess strong communication skills and demonstrate the ability to balance a creative eye with an analytical mindset. 

A solid technical background is essential. 

Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Webmaster will be responsible for, among other duties, the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the KRG’s online presence, including affiliated KRG websites, and coordinate interface with KRG social media applications;
  • Manage the full in-house development cycle of KRG’s websites, from initial design and coding to deployment and ongoing maintenance;
  • Ensure functionality and efficiency of websites while making sure that browsers, operating systems and all devices are operating properly;
  • Complete ongoing maintenance of KRG websites and ensure content is current, accurate and timely
  • Develop front-end interfaces using modern frameworks (Next.js and Angular);
  • Integrate with back-end systems and databases, including platforms such as Sanity;
  • Ensure server-side rendering and optimized website performance and evaluate the efficiency and technical capabilities of websites and social media platforms;
  • Handle back-end development, including server architecture and database management;
  • Develop and maintain secure user authentication systems, implementing best practices for web security, including encryption, access control and secure communication protocols;
  • Coordinate replies to user comments, back check information from pertinent sources and monitor online traffic and website conversions;
  • Assist define website strategy to align with the Kativik Regional Government’s public relations and messaging strategies;
  • Develop new means of digital communications throughout Nunavik to facilitate the transfer of information to all communities;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and external contractors to gather requirements, provide technical solutions and ensure project deliverables meet expectations and specifications;
  • Work closely with other members of the communications team.

REQUIREMENTS

  • College degree in Computer Science, Web Design, or in a related field;
  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a Webmaster or Web Developer;
  • Demonstrated experience with web content management systems and knowledge tools for website management;
  • Experience in leading or facilitating website migration projects, including experience in working with website vendors during website redevelopment;
  • Knowledge of UX design principles and proficiency with UX design tools such as Figma;
  • Proficient in HTML/CSS and XML and knowledge of JavaScript and SQL, including Python, PHP, Node.js, and JSON;
  • Demonstrated experience with current web standards, understanding of web analytics, analyzing traffic metrics and reporting on them;
  • Understanding of search engine optimization and current best practices;
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail and creativity;
  • Strong communication abilities and excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in at least two of the following languages: Inuktitut, English, French.

Salary: Min. $60, 074 – Max. $102, 839 yearly (Class 9)

Benefits: Cost of living differential: $8 500 annually (minimum); 

Food allowance: $4 216 annually (minimum);

Annual leave trips: Maximum of 3 trips per person annually;

Vacation: 20 days/year;

Statutory holidays: 20 days, including 10 days at Christmas.
