Who we are?
Founded in 2017, TARQUTI Energy ("TARQUTI") is an Inuit company specializing in renewable energy development,
supporting Nunavik communities in a local and sustainable energy transition, with the goal of reducing dependence on
diesel and maximizing regional benefits.
Role context and growth opportunities
As part of the upcoming commissioning of its wind farm in Quaqtaq, TARQUTI is looking to recruit and train two (2)
Wind Turbine Technicians – Level 1 into its field operations team. Selected candidates will work alongside experienced
technicians who will act as mentors, in a work environment focused on learning, skill development, and the gradual
acquisition of autonomy.
This position reflects TARQUTI’s commitment to building and growing local technical expertise in Nunavik. It offers a
pathway toward a long-term career in renewable energy, with opportunities to progress into higher-level technical roles
based on experience, skills, engagement, and organizational needs.
Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Lead Wind Turbine Technician – Level 3, the incumbent participates in maintenance,
inspection, and repair activities on wind turbines. The role supports field operations by contributing to the proper
functioning of equipment and installations, while also participating in the operational management and upkeep of site
infrastructure and machinery.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Support
- Assist the Lead Wind Turbine Technician – Level 3 with:
➢ Preventive and corrective maintenance;
➢ Mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic inspections;
➢ Troubleshooting and repair work.
- Contribute to equipment installation and commissioning.
- Perform basic testing on electrical and mechanical components.
- Collect and record operational and maintenance data.
- Use tools, equipment, and systems appropriately (e.g., SCADA – basic level).
- Report any anomalies, risks, or required interventions.
- Always Work safely and seek guidance when needed.
- Equipment and Facilities Maintenance
- Participate in regular inspections of turbines and site installations.
- Diagnose basic technical issues and escalate when required.
- Assist senior technicians or OEM representatives during complex interventions.
Infrastructure and Machinery Maintenance
- Perform general maintenance of buildings, installations, and site machinery (technical buildings, auxiliary systems,
vehicles, field intervention equipment, etc.).
- Ensure proper condition and operation of infrastructure and essential systems (heating, ventilation, electrical
systems, mechanical systems, etc.).
- Participate in routine inspection and maintenance of machinery and equipment, by reporting any anomalies or
required repairs.
- Support inventory management of parts, tools, and equipment.
- Maintain a safe work environment by ensuring the site is clean, organized, and compliant with applicable standards.
Field Operations and Logistics
- Safely operate site equipment (service vehicles and specialized equipment).
- Perform basic inspections and maintenance of equipment.
- Support field logistics, including transportation, material handling, and preparation of interventions.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards during operations.
Health, Safety and Environment (HSE)
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and standards at all times.
- Follow established procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), working at heights, and confined space entry.
- Take a proactive approach to risk prevention and help maintain a safe work environment.
- Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and work tools.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Ability to work outdoors in variable and sometimes harsh weather conditions.
- Excellent physical condition required, including:
➢ Ability to lift and/or move up to 27.2 kg (60 lb).
➢ Working at heights (up to approximately 300 feet), including inside the nacelle and hub;
➢ Wearing a safety harness;
➢ Working in confined spaces.
- Ability to meet required medical and physical assessments to confirm fitness for the essential duties of the position,
in accordance with health and safety requirements.
Other Requirements
- Valid driver’s license (Class 5), required for operating vehicles and transporting equipment and materials.
- Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and on call (on-site or remote).
- Participation in required health and safety and technical training.
Technical Training Program
Each employee will benefit from a tailored technical training pathway, including:
- Progressive on-site learning.
- Training sessions (sometimes held in Southern locations) to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge.
- Specialized training provided by the wind turbine manufacturer (Enercon).
Training duration and content will be adapted based on individual experience and skills. All training-related costs —
including travel, accommodation, and related expenses — are fully covered by TARQUTI.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Technical training (DEP or equivalent) in maintenance, industrial mechanics, electrical work, electromechanics, or
hands-on trades will be considered an asset.
- Certification or license to operate heavy equipment (asset).
Experience and Knowledge
- Experience in manual work, electrical work, mechanics, equipment or facility maintenance, or any environment
requiring diligence and adherence to safety procedures.
- Interest in renewable energy and energy transition.
- Interest in technical work and equipment operation.
- Ability to use basic tools.
- Understanding of workplace safety practices.
- Basic computer skills.
